Saying derogatory things about the person I like offends me somewhat. "Freddie Mercury was a ***, who just slept with alot of guys." is just stupid. But then again I don't say anything, because what am I supposed to say? And get into a fight over some celebrity?

Not really. There are certain bands that I like such as Rush and Chicago who only appeal to a certain audiance so I relalize that not everyone is going to like them.

There are times I'm protective of my favorite actors, shows and movies. But I'm ok with others not liking the things I like.

I don't really care unless the other person is just rude and insults someone for liking that person or the show or actually goes to a show's board just to bash it. Life's to short to care about nonsense. Not everyone's going to like the same thing.

for me, most of the time i would say yes. although i understand that not everyone will not have the same tastes in music, bands, singers, actors, tv shows as me.
i hate it though when ex-fans of a show go on another site and continue b*tching about it when they stopped watching it. it is just so pathetic. likewise, on the ugly betty news site and you tube, there were occassions where during the third season, so-called gio, henry fans would say something on the lines of 'this show sucks- bring back gio, henry' or ' i am no longer watching ugly betty' and yet i was the netural one because i didn't favour either of them. and i thought to myself, 'hang on a minute, here you are bashing the show you used to be a fan of- and yet you are not tuning into the episodes. WTH? therefore, why are still bashing ugly betty when you haven't been watching any of the episodes, last season? there is a fine line drawn between criticising the show for its ideas, storylines etc and trashing a show, its characters, the actors etc. for me, i don't pay attention to the stupid ones. |

I always get laughed at when I say "I like the Monkees." Always! I'm not going to lie, it does bother me when someone doesn't like the same music or TV shows as me. Not that I expect everyone to love what I love, I think it more has to do with the majority of the people I know don't like or have never seen what I love. So I'm just at the point now where it gets me angry. I feel like an outsider all the time, lol. What also bugs me is when my friends love the things I hate. I strongly dislike (aka hate) Nickelback and country music. My friends that I go bowling with love Nickelback and country music. In fact, on the way to the bowling alley, they have to play country music in their car. And I think back to when my family would go to church and for some reason my little sister got to pick the music, and she always chose country. It's like I'm always surrounded by the stuff I don't like. My favorite music is Oldies (mid 50s to the mid 70s) but I can't find a radio station where I live that plays exclusively Oldies (one plays them on Saturday nights though). Another thing is when I love a show or a type of music, it becomes a part of me. And I can't help but take it personal when someone bashes it. I know I didn't have anything to do with the production of the show or song, but because I love it so much, it does feel personal when someone dislikes it. I know it all has to do with us being individuals and all liking different things. It still bugs me that a show I hate is the #1 sitcom, and that most of my favorite shows are either disliked by the people I know or have never been viewed by the people I know. So I guess in the end I'm, saying I wouldn't care so much what people would think about my favorite shows or type of music, as long as more people liked it than disliked it.

I don't really give two craps about people who diss my favorite shows, movies, etc. I usually don't even bat an eye, and don't get one bit upset. People are entitled to like what they like, and I don't think I've ever been offended by anything petty like that. I would be shocked if anyone ever said that All In The Family was a horrible show, but I'd just move on, and certainly wouldn't lose any sleep over it. Wouldn't even change my opinion about the person. Celebrity bashing though is another matter. I do get extremely offended at times when people bash Hollywood stars, especially those who absolutely don't deserve it. I especially hate it when people kick celebrities who are down. I've heard many people make fun of celebrities who are dealing with mental illness, and substance abuse, and as somebody who has had some experience in those areas myself, and who's even come close to losing family to addiction, it offends me greatly. Things tend to be funny when you're not experiencing it, but believe me, once someone close to you struggles with these battles, you won't be so quick to laugh about it!!! There's NOTHING funny about issues like these!!

It doesn't bother me. Everybody has a right to who they like and don't. For instance, I like Miley Cyrus and some people can't stand her. However, just because some don't like somebody doesn't give them the right to spread false rumors and/or bring up that persons past (real or fake) because 1, everybody has a shaded past. Nobody is perfect. 2, it's none of their business. I try to shurg it off, but it still makes me mad people can be that childish.
As far as staying away from boards devoted to my favorite thing, I go on them. Nobody is going to ruin my love for whom or what I think is awesome. |

Oh yes, I tend to get very protective about things like that. I take it very personally. Like I really love Michael Jackson, and I get so sad, when I see people on the internet, who don't understand my love for him at all.

The only ones I get mad at are the media and papparazzi. I hate how people like John and Kate get overly covered and how the papparazzi hound people. I don't have an issue with people who don't like an actor/actress I like. Like someone said before different strokes for different folks.
