Her absolute WORST dramatic performance is when Sam got kidnapped. Talk about OVER THE TOP!

No lie, bro. We had a big discussion about that. That seemed to be one of the hot topics. The over the top lines were:

Sam's Missing
"Pleeeaazze. Find my soooon."
"Phillip, I don't give a d-mn about those chairs!"

From Bulimia Ep:

Kimberly: I can stop anytime.
Maggie: (very cold look) I don't think so sweethart.

We discussed these.

You need to see that one. It is a good ep IMO and you will get to see what we are talking about when it comes to MaryAnne's skills.

Well Brian, she did try. It is just in retrospect, it looks bad when you are selling the show as a package.

Ever notice that when a star doesn't like a supporting player, it's the supporting player that tends to overshadow the star later on?

Dixie Carter went on to a highly successful sitcom of her own (Designing Women), stage work, and even now is well known for a recurring role on Desperate Housewives. Gary Coleman went onto, ummmm, mall security and a failed bid for Governor of California. Enough said.

John Amos was disappointed in the quality of Good Times since Jimmie Walker's JJ and his wild and crazy antics took center stage. I don't know if Jimmie Walker had anything to do with John Amos being fired, but who has had the more successful show biz career? John Amos was in Roots, The District, West Wing, and more recently, Men In Trees. Since Good Times ended, Jimmie Walker has basically vanished into obscurity.

To get back to Dixie Carter, I heard that she signed with CBS after NBC cancelled Diff'rent Strokes. By the time ABC picked up the show, she was unavailable. That's why they recast her role with Mary Ann Mobley. That's what I've always heard, anyway...
