I did not know that. That is a terrible thing for a grandmother to say. If it makes you feel better my mother's mother told my mom about 20 years ago that she should never have had either me or my sisters.

What kind of family support is that?

I'm sorry to hear this.

uh like half of my family shares some of the characteristics described by a lot of people in this thread. not my immediate family (thank goodness), but a lot of other family members i'm like, "am i really related to them?"

My greatgrandmother told my grandma that when she was pregnant with my dad. GG didn't like kids and was actually a rotten mother. She didn't really like my grandma (but she liked her son, my great uncle!), but in the end (a couple years before she died), she would have been super lost without grandma taking care of her.

Speaking of the same GG as ^^^^...she once told me that because I still lived at home, I'd never get married. Pissed me off and hurt my feelings. I don't get how people who supposedly love you can say stuff like that (or like what Lauren's been told).

To top it off, I swear she was high the whole time we were both at the get-together. I don't even WANT to think about them. DISGUSTING.

He just never grew up after he dropped out of high school in the early 1980s. He's a 16-year-old guy trapped in a 42-year-old guy's body.
Maybe he and Phoebe's uncle Bob could get together and share stories...x_x

Yeah, it was pretty mean for my grandma to tell me mother that. I guess my grandma told her own sister (my mother's aunt) the very same thing about her children (my mom's cousins). Honestly, it has never really bothered me too much.

Good one, Dawsongirl!!

Reading about PZelda's cousin reminds me of my cousin, Robbie, who is Bob's son. He's almost as bad. He hasn't been married 5 times but nobody in the family likes to associate with him, mostly because he's Bob's son. He is obnoxious though. He showed up at my uncle's funeral reception also and he was a bit more than tipsy, so he was also being pretty loud because of that.

Thanks you guys! I just deal with the way I'm treated and move on, that's really the only thing I can do at this point. As soon as I find another job I'm going to start saving my money so that I can get my own apartment.
