I am about tired of you dissin' Mabel! You got the wackiest taste I have ever seen! Get a life! Mabel did excellent without a husband! She kept Raj and Dee in check. Mabel was an excellent actor, and if she wouldn't have never left, the show probably would have lasted longer.

You claimed the show revolved around 3 teenagers...which it did, it was suppose to. If the mother was never shown, people like you would wonder where would the mother be. Like I said before, Mabel wasn't there to provide laughs, she was there to be Raj's mother, and she did an excellent job playing a single mother. People can have different effects on a show rather than just providing laughs. You can't be a real What's Happening fan, because you don't appreciate Mabel. I recall in several episodes of season 1, she gave Raj's morals to lessons he needed to learn. How can that be dry?

You need to be ashamed of yourself for bashing a positive character.

that's what i was trying to say...had there been just kids on the show, the topic would be, "where the hell are the parents?" We already have a thread abt where are Rerun's parents. So, the fact that Mabel was hardly used as a good addition to the show, was not her fault. Mabel probably thought things would get better, more solid for her character and realized that it was turning into "Rerun's" show.

You need a straight character on these sitcoms, Mabel was that. Too bad Retro can't understand that. Then again, he liked Judy Cohen, an actress who was nothing and brought nothing. seems to me he likes characters that didn't have an effect on a show, like Tyriq, Will Smith's homeboy on Fresh Prince, you thought he brought more to the show than Jazz, Solomon, you know what I'm talking about, with your strange self. LOL

I didn't see Raj and them as Kids so not seeing their parents would have been fine with me.

I think you are trying to get under someone's skin, but it ain't going to work. You know doggone well a parent was needed. I guess you liked season 3 better, because Raj and Dee didn't have parents. Let me give you some advice: Get rid of season 1 and 2, because Mabel King is in it. keep season 3, because Raj and Dee didn't have parents. They had Shirley. Big and Little Earl was there, and The Snake. Cherish this season, Solomon, because this season describe what you want in What's Happening.

My point is this show would have been much better with The guys at the soda shop and school. If these characters were not on the show it would have been great

DEE
Mama

Then you woukd only see the guys, shirley, and rob. Wasn't no need to see them at home.

That's what I posted before. If it had taken place solely at the soda shop and at school, cool. But, the show was developed with a mother and a young kid. Dee was awesome, when she was younger. They could have not had adult characters such as Mabel, but that's how they started and once you start like that, you can't go back.

Also, Mabel looked more like their grandmother than their mother which is why I think I didn't like her. She came off as a Grandmom

I know that's what I'm saying. I'm saying the show should have started like that with Raj and the guys being at the soda shop and school

Irene, don't waste your time arguing with this weirdo! He thinks every show should revolve around his taste...he has no taste! What's Happening was a show based on reality. What should have been like, Leave It To Beaver? I was raised by a single parent. Mabel King didn't look like she should have been their grandmother, you need to take that back because she was an underrated actress one who came into acting late, like Esther Rolle and Isabelle Sanford. They were in their 50s when they got work, and when they did, they did their jobs to the fullest. These are black actresses who took on the sterotype mammy roles to feed their families and open doors for others. To see you sit there and diss Mabel and YOU, as a black man, you need to be tarred and feathered!

So you knock Mabel because her character was single?! Florida HAD a husband for 2 years. Louise kid was grown? So what?! They were all strong mothers! You didn't listen to a damn word I just posted. I wasn't talking about the real life actresses getting work, not the characters. Why are you so stubborn and why are you trying to argue?

They just had the Mabel character as a LOSER. She had no Man, A Crappy Job, No life, and then her ex husband comes to visit her with his new woman. And then Mabel cooks dinner for the new woman. I can see why the actress didn't like the part because she was a LOSER. Am I lying?

Louise or Florida wasn't LOSERS
