Okay, this is basically my husband's first thread. It was his idea that I create it, and he told me what to write.
He keeps asking me how many hits it's getting, and I read them to him. Come on guys, let's make the old man feel good.

I never went beyond "amateur coin collector" so I really don't know the good questions to ask, but here's a few if he'd like to answer: What does he consider his most valuable coin? Does he have any from foreign countries? What is his oldest coin? How many does he have? |

He says his most valuable coin is a 1917 S Walker half dollar, worth a couple of thousand. I almost killed him over that purchase. He also has a 1909 to 1941 collection of uncirculated wheat pennies. He doesn't collect foreign coins, but has a 1943 Australian large penny with a kangaroo on it. (I don't even know what I'm typing here). He's dictating. His oldest coin is an 1878 Morgan Dollar from Carson City. He's has too many to count, but estimates it at about 5 thousand. And he thanks you for asking.

I don't collect coins per se, but if I come across a half dollar, silver dollar, or two-dollar bill, I save it. I'm weird like that.

I don't know the value of any of my coins, but I'm certain none come close to 2 thousand! Very cool. I have an 1879 silver dollar--in quite good condition I'd say. Although, an expert may say otherwise. Like I said, I'm really an amateur. If your husband has anything else interesting to add, I'd love to hear it. This is a fun topic. |

I collect state quarters. I have a huge map with slots on each state for the coins to go in!

I'm pretty up to date, but I'm still missing the Michigan quarter, but I do have the Florida one that came after it. ![]() My mother has quite a few silver dollars, and some Canadian coins from when she went to Prince Edward Island a few years ago. My brother in law collects some coins, too, but I don't have a running inventory of what he has yet. |
