When a thread is locked, it's because nobody heeds my warnings to stop fighting. I usually issue a warning to stop the fighting, and when it continues and gets nasty, I have no choice but to lock the thread. Got any better ideas?

Can you point to a thread that was locked for no reason?

Greg's (Captain Ablairica) thread, Top 45 Oxymorons, could've been easily edited. It only has 40 posts. However, it was locked. Meanwhile, Shelby's (EricIdleFan) News You Can Use thread, was easily edited- but not Greg's. I wanted to contribute to Greg's thread yesterday, only to find it locked, and all the attack posts remaining. Why is that?

I agree. That's the reason there's so many pointless arguments on here. People just can't ignore the stupid posts. They have to say something about them.

Blame it all on EricIdlefan. Most of the time when she contributes her stupidity to a topic chaos erupts. She's bad luck to threads.

Beware of EricIdlefan!!

The reason is that the Oxymoron thread was 90% bashing while the News thread was easier to just edit. Some threads I close, some I edit. I'll tell you what. I'll reopen the Oxymoron thread and attach a warning.

We'll see how long it lasts.

Thank You!!!

Feel free to edit the bashing posts too please. If I see a hint of a fight brewing on that (or any) thread, I'll PM you ahead of time.

Honestly Jenya, I don't have time to keep deleting posts. Often a thread spins so far out of control that it gets to the point of no return.

If I delete, they just post more trash, so I often have no choice but to close a thread. I hate closing them. I really do. It's the same violators over and over again too.

And yes, I would appreciate an extra set of eyes to allow me to diffuse things before a thread gets too ugly. Thanks.

I know where you're coming from, Janice. I just wish there was some way to restrict abusive posters to post on certain threads. Rig it so that they can only read certain threads, but not post on them. That way they can't ruin a whole thread for everybody else.

Quittting time at work! I better get outta here. I'll post on Greg's thread after supper when I get home.

Sourbabie Don't know why TJ, Janice, or any other moderators let you and people like TV People and Safety Pin on this board because you three don't realize that people do have feelings and other people like to post stuff and all three of your all's problem is that you think what you three say is important but what other people say isn't. It is so, so, sad while the three of you make fun of people at not just their expense but yours.

Ok, not to be rude or anything, but to be singling out EricIdleFan in all these posts, it's making the problem worse, it's doing exactly what we want to stop. I'm not saying that I'm not annoyed by this, and some threads and posts posted by her are...out there...but I'm so sick of every topic being turned into a fight once she posts. I'm not defending anyone here, but wouldn't it be ironic if THIS thread was locked?

AHH! I remember the good ol days when a thread would be locked and it was a rare occasion...nowadays...EVERYTHING is a fight.
