Has anyone noticed that this show went through three major transformations?
At first it was outright comedy about teen-age life with more or less believable humor. Then it turned into a moralistic show that often involved Dobie making big speeches on how to live. Then it became far out and zany with plots such a Maynard changing into a monster. At least that's how I see it. Has anyone else noticed this? |

Yes, I have noticed that also. The first season was by far the best. After Tuesday Weld left it went down hill. I think the army plotline was awful and the last season had some amusing stuff but most of it was silly, involving fantasy plots with Maynard who I think got sick of it all and went to Hawaii and started using his middle name-I think the "G" really stood for Gilligan!
