Post A first-season review of Green Acres

"Once upon a television, there was a show called The Beverly Hillbillies. It quickly became,if not great with child,at least with child. In due course of time,Petticoat Junction was born.It wasn't long after that that Petticoat Junction also had a child- which was called Green Acres."

The reviewer had his finger right on the nail when he talked about spinoffs.Still,he went on to criticize things like:repitition, crossovers with PJ or the basic idea of a city lawyer looking for a farm.Critics seem to point out as a show's faults what, for the particular show, are it's assets.

MR.HANEY:I know another fellow in Pixley who wants to buy this bar.
OLIVER:He can have it!
Mr.HANEY:Mr.Douglass,you're not going to pass up a great offer like this?
OLIVER:Yeesss,I am!

I like the posting, man. I loved those crossovers. One of my favorites is when The Douglases, The Bradleys and the Clampetts all have thanksgiving dinner together. That was really great.

It sure was a great show, that Beverly Hillbillies 1968 Thanksgiving show.Jethro and Eb together?Wow!

And Jethro passing himself off as a big Hollywood mogul-(chuckle!).Elly May sure could pass as a movie star in that beautiful gown, and even Billie Jo and Bobbie Jo called her a knockout and a blonde bombshell.

Jethro didn't think Elly was that lovely, but he can be excused. He knew her too well.

What a great shared universe that was.

I remember a flashback to Oliver and Lisa Douglas in WWII Hogan's Heroes was referred to, almost looked like another crossover might happen.
