In recent weeks all the networks have announced what they will be showing come fall. All except PAX.
Does anybody know whats up? I have friends who tell me that once their deal with NBC expires at the end of this year, PAX will fold. On radio-info.com, in the television section, over the last few weeks they have been pretty much saying the same thing. Do you think that will happen? I know that our local PAX outlet recently fired all their staff, except 2. Their job is just to sit there and keep an eye on the transmitter. They also cancelled all local commericals. And other than Coach reruns and Baltimore Orioles games, and of course the PAX shows, its pretty much back to informericals. |

I'm curious as to what is up as well. Though I shouldn't be all too concerned since my local PAX affilliate sucks. They air all their crap when PAX shows are supposed to be on.

My local PAX runs WB programming from 3 p.m. to 5 and 6 to 8 on weekdays and 6 to 8 on weekends. I'm hoping PAX goes out of business so the station can become full-time WB station. Also, the station is broadcast on channel 43. So if PAX failed and the station became a WB station, it would WB 43.

John Consoli
JUNE 02, 2003 - Lowell "Bud" Paxson, chairman and CEO of Paxson Communications, which owns Pax TV network, said Monday that in the wake of the FCC relaxing its rules on media ownership, he is hoping that NBC will exercise its option to acquire the remaining portion of Paxson that it does not already own. NBC owns 33 percent of Paxson and had said that federal ownership rules were preventing it from acquiring any greater portion of the network. "I will be waiting to hear from them," Paxson said of NBC executives. He added that if NBC does not choose to acquire any further piece of Paxson, he believes "the FCC's actions have raised the value of our properties by expanding the universe of buyers able to create duopolies or triopolies in every market we are in." That could mean that if NBC chooses not to acquire any more of Paxson, the company will continue selling off its stations to interested media companies. Paxson has already raised $100 million, by selling off several of its stations prior to the FCC ruling. from http://www.mediaweek.com/mediaweek/h...ent_id=1899928 |

PAX didn't develop any new shows for the fall, but there will be new seasons of its more successful shows, such as "Doc", "Sue Thomas", and "Candid Camera".
