The Dobie Pages

Almost 10 years ago, when the internet was still young and undeveloped, before everybody and his brother had internet access, back when only geeks and nerds actually had their own websites, I decided to make my first webpage. I wanted my site devoted to a topic that nobody else was covering. I'd already been collecting Dobie memorabilia for many years. What better way was there to share my collection with the world? And thus was born:

Almost instantly the website attracted media attention. By default I became the world's foremost authority on all things Dobie. I was contacted by ABC-News, TV-Guide, Nickolodeon, Dwayne Hickman, Bob Denver, the children of Max Shulman, Randy Newman (nephew of Lionel Newman who wrote the theme song) and many others. (But I never did hear from Tuesday Weld! Just a "close friend" who told me she was aware of the website.)

The TV Series hadn't been aired in years, but that all changed quickly, largely thanks to The Dobie Pages! Nick-at-Night started airing re-runs. TV-Guide named the show as one of the best comedies of all time. A Dobie renaissance had begun!

But sadly the resurgence of interest faded after a few years and now Dobie is once again relegated to the backbins of TV obscurity.
I doubt we'll ever see it on Nick again. I've moved on to create other websites on different topics. So I'm glad there are sites like this to pick up the baton.
