Post The Real McCoys looks to be leaving TNN

They are targetting the 18-49 age group and have added a bunch of new series and it appears they have dropped The Real McCoys from the schedule. It's too bad because I don't know the last time it was shown before TNN acquired it?

Well I am between 18 - 49 and watched The Real McCoys everyday. Tried not to miss it!

I have emailed them to find a early morning, late night or even weekend airing for the show.

Anyone else, please email to,

It aired on a station called Family Net before TNN. Its a religous atation that showed a block of black and white shows in the evening like Red Skelton,Andy Griffith and some early color shows like Lucy show and Mothers in Law.
I know currently they are showing My Little Margie and sometimes I married Joan.It now varies, sometimes at 4pm its on and sometimes not.
Its confusing to keep up because they are always switching shows around much like Nick at nite does.

I'm just about to turn 40... so I guess I'm part of TNN's "targeted" age group...

When I got home from work today (Mon 22 Jan 2001) and re-wound my tape to watch "My Favorite Martian" (from TVLand) and "Real McCoys" (from TNN), imagine my dismay to find that "McCoys" was *NOT* on today.

And then I check their website, and can't find it anywhere!

I've already fired off MY ANGRY email to them!

Beginning in 1984, for about a couple of years, a new local UHF station had signed on, WNOL-38. At the time they were independent (about to pick-up FOX; today, they are WB-Network, Fox moved to the old ABC affil WVUE-8, and WGNO-26 dropped WB to pick up ABC. WGNO-26 was the long-standing indep UHF station in New Orleans since the late 1960s or so; the 3-way network affiliation swap happened about four or five years ago)...
Anyhow...

WNOL-38 (when they were first signed-on, and still independent about to pick up FOX, in the 1984-86 timeframe) carried "Gidget", "Real McCoys", "Martian", "Bewitched" (both Color and the 1964/65 and 65/66 B&W seasons), and such. But I can't think of ANYTHING "traditional" from the 1950s/60's currently being rerun on ANY of our local TV stations anymore!

A REAL SHAME that there aren't too many "easily accessible" stations/channels/networks/whatever, rerunning the classic shows of the 50's/60's anymore!

Even CBS-Viacom-Paramount-owned TVLand and Nick (and I think TNN is now part of the CBS-Viacom-Paramount "mega-corporate-conglomerate") have dropped several classic programs that they used to run, in favor of more "recent" off-net reruns!

It's not fair that TNN cancled the Real McCoys. I'm fourteen and love the show.
It's nice to be able to come home after school and watch one of the few decent things on television.
Everyone thinks the main group of people that they need to attract are teenagers, which means putting on some slutty TV show. I am different from most teenagers I like to watch something that's relaxing. Oh well, I guess TNN is just like any of the other main TV stations--it's sold out. I don't think TNN has "pop" they've got "plop".

I love to watch the REAL MCCCOYS & so does my hubby. Can't get TNN or our satellite dish cuz it's an old one & can't find a descrambler for it. We were watching it on a Religious station called WORLD HARVEST TV. G6 channel 15. Haven't seen it in awhile & I miss it. They always take off the good shows. I am so glad to get TVLAND as they play some great old shows. Sadly tho I can't get it too good cuz a huge grove of trees to the side of our home which belong to my bro-in-laws auto parts junkyard & the neighbors are blocking the szatellite signla. Hopefully someone will put the show back on as it's a good one!

I waited over 30 years for the reruns to be shown. When I discovered them on TNN I made sure I taped each one. I was afraid they would be taken off too soon and they were. I don't believe all the shows were brought back. Let's hope if TNN chooses not to show them another station will pick them up.

Basically when TNN decided to "update" their schedule they
scrapped three of their old reliable shows in the process:
THE REAL MCCOYS,STARSKY & HUTCH,THE DUKES OF HAZZARD.
Interesting enough they didn't scrap THE WALTONS.

I don't know who makes these decisions. *Grumble* When I happened to run into reruns of the real McCoys a few months back it lifted me to a place I hadn't been for a spell. I looked forward to that show to keep me there. What a great combination of characters and story lines. LOVE that show and everyone on it!
