The 2 hour pilot for the new series did decent last night, for a Saturday that is.
From 9-10pm it was tied with CBS's The District for #1 for the hour at a 5.2/10 and 10-11pm it was #1 for the hour with a 5.7/11. Overall it was a 5.5/11. Not bad for a Saturday. It will air for 5 more weeks this season on Saturdays 9-10pm E/P on NBC starting next week. Preview for next week: VAYA SIN DIOS 04-19-2003 8:00PM ET HUNTER SEARCHES FOR A MURDERING 'SHARK' -- The discovery of an illegal Mexican teenager soaked and wandering the streets, leads Lieutenant Hunter (Fred Dryer) and Sergeant McCall (Stepfanie Kramer) along with INS agent Reeder (guest star) to a "Shark" smuggling immigrants in the US on the high seas, only to murder them off the San Diego coast. However, when Hunter discovers the mass murder was a not business as usual for this smuggler, he begins to question Reeder's motives. Mike Gomez, Sid Sham, Michelle Gold, Alex Mendoza, and Ana Maria Lagasca also star. "Hunter" is produced by Vic Schiro and Scott Levitta ("Silk Stalkings"). Dryer, Emmy Award winner Stephen J. Cannell ("The Rockford Files"), Stu Segall ("The Chronicle" ) and Frank Lupo ("Wiseguy") - who also penned the teleplay --serve as executive producers. Ric Kolbe directs the episode produced by Stu Segall Productions for 20th Century Fox Television and NBC Studios. |

I thought the 2 hour movie was outstanding. It was great to see Hunter and Dee Dee back in action together. I hope the 5 upcoming one hour shows do well and it becomes a regular series.

Hunter was originally suppose to air at 10pm ET, then they decided it would be better to air it at 9pm ET in between the Law & Order series repeats, but then they decided to start it off the night, and looking at the ratings, it didn't work. Looks like NBC wants to kill the show. They should have aired at 10 or 9pm. It did bad at 8pm last night:
CBS started off the winning the eight o'clock hour with "Touched by an Angel," 4.4/9, guest-starring country singer Wynonna. FOX was second with back-to-back episodes of "Cops" averaging a 4.1/8, enough to beat a new episode of "Hunter" on NBC, 3.9/8. |
