Yes, most of the black and white episodes were a sort of routine soap, with just a touch of the supernatural. IIRC the show went to color shortly after Barnabas' introduction.

Not a blooper or messed up line , but when Angelique turned Joshua into a cat, was over the top hilarious . And Jeremiah coming back from the dead as a spirit with his head all bandaged up, which didn't make sense being he was shot, injured in the chest. And that morbid laughing he was doing, that was more funny than scary!

When I first came upon Dark Shadows on METV + a couple months ago , it was weird. Of the 6 episides they would show per Sunday, some were in black and white, some were in color. For a couple of weeks they were like this. Now they are all in color.

Occasionally, you'll still see a b/w here and there. Lost tapes, you know (it's amazing most were retained, because some soap tapes were reused). Maybe Dan Curtis kept them.

There is one episode late in the series that is almost totally lost. They reconstructed a little from a preview scene in the preceding episode, plus some audio they got from somewhere.
