Did people expect Once Upon A Time to become a hit?

When ABC first debuted Once Upon A Time I think people thought it would be a one season show but during the time it debuted at the same time NBC's Grimm debuted I think Once Upon A Time had competition. In general I think the debuts of Once Upon A Time and Grimm really sparked the trend of fairy-tale/fantasy drama shows and I think when the second season of Once Upon A Time debuted Once Upon A Time really took off like a rocket and people began watching it and it got really high ratings but why ABC ended Once Upon A Time after seven seasons is a mystery because Once Upon A Time could've lasted for more seasons and they could've created spin-off series from Once Upon A Time rather than have the short-episode series Once Upon A Time In Wonderland. When I saw Once Upon A Time on Disney+ I was surprised at how good this show was and it is similar to NBC's Grimm and it shocked me that Once Upon A Time has had a giant fanbase since the show's end
