Also some gay overtones in the two scenes when Taylor is alone with the hot looking girls and he rejects their advances. He killed the first one and was about to kill the second one when his sister walked in and interrupted what was going on. Taylor definitely had his issues with females. Maybe the way his sister raised him had something to do with it. |

I love Barnaby Jones, too! The stories are smart and compelling, and I really enjoy the family dynamic between Barnaby, Betty, and J.R.—they have terrific chemistry together. I also love Barnaby's folksy charm. I wish I had Betty's wardrobe!

You guys have me really wanting to check out Barnaby Jones. It's too early in the morning on METV, and my DVD player broke down. I really need to get a new one and get a Barnaby Jones DVD .
Not just to see this show, but I have so many TV shows and movies on DVD that I had to put on hold watching. |

Even though I did not watch it as a kid (I was too young) the show is so nostalgic for me. I love the big cars. I remember driving to Atlantic City in 1975 in one of those land yachts with my family. |

I am going to show you something interesting. You know those channels that take you to the famous places of movies or TV shows? They show you what things look like today vs the movie or TV show.
Barnaby Jones was filmed on location throughout the Los Angeles area. His office is actually not in LA but in Pasadena in real life. But there are a few shout outs to local businesses. In one of my favorite episodes "Academy of Evil" Betty goes undercover at a girls school. A teacher quits because of a girl's gang that threatens teachers. Betty finds the teacher working at the Sagebrush restaurant in Santa Clarita. This is a real restaurant that has been in business for over 50 years. However its in Calabasas, CA which is only about 30 minutes away from Santa Clarita and closer to LA. Notice Betty being seated at the restaurant at 27:19. Notice the wooden frame windows to the back that are adjacent to the sidewalk. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZU5-DRQb0-g&t=2161s Now here is a modern day video shot at the restaurant. Notice at 1:14 those wooden window frames are still there just painted white. This table is almost where Betty would have been seated. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uc_RkDYLv8Q Pretty cool, right? Very few restaurants and buildings are the same from 50 years ago. But this still exists. Did you also know that Cannon's condo building is now a Hollywood Hotel? I always thought it would be fun to stay there and pretend to run into him in the elevator. If I ever make it back to CA, I would love to have lunch at the Sagebrush and picture Betty eating there. It was right before those teenage bad girls try to run her Ford Pinto off the road
