Default Why did TV Land change its image?

When it was announced that Nick At Nite was gonna launch a second channel fans were eager to see what type of channel it was gonna be. And so when TV Land was launched in 1996 fans were anticipating and imagining what TV Land was gonna be and the result was a sitcom oriented channel and when you look through the telescope I think TV Land was destined to be big at first with shows such as Rhoda The Mary Tyler Moore Show I Love Lucy The Lucy Show The Lucy And Desi Comedy Hour The Honeymooners and other classic sitcoms and show special commercial breaks such as the famous TV Land Retrommercials segments. But if you look at TV Land today I think they have changed their image. For one thing it seems that their target audience age is 60-80 because when you watch TV Land you'll see commercials advertising life insurance medical insurance illnesses and health related commercials and it tells me that TV Land is attracting the senior citizen audience now. Beginning in the 2000's was I think when you could tell that TV Land had indeed changed their image because gone were the classic sitcoms and in their place were 90's sitcoms because you started to see The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air and Home Improvement begin airing on TV Land and then you saw The Cosby Show added as well as George Lopez. And for some reason TV Land aired Newsradio and only aired it for a month and then added Roseanne. But the biggest mistake I remember very well TV Land did and should've never done was air Steve Harvey's Family Feud and to me why TV Land decided to air Steve Harvey's Family Feud is a giant mystery because game shows really didn't fit well on TV Land and then they added reruns of Extreme Makeover Home Edition too and I could see that this was TV Land's new image. But they also aired Friends Mom and According To Jim and even Yes, Dear. But what TV Land could've done was add Frasier rather than Friends or Seinfeld to the lineup and what about Mad About You or Step By Step. But it seemed that once Full House reruns were a hit they focused on original sitcoms like Hot In Cleveland Younger See Dad Run and The Soul Man and the only classic sitcoms that aired was The Brady Bunch and Leave It To Beaver. But I think once the demand for more classic TV channels such as METV Cozi and others TV Land knew that they would be hit with strong competition in the long run. But don't be surprised if TV Land files for bankruptcy or rebrands itself in the future in a couple years

In my eyes the way I view it TV Land mainly changed it's image to suit the new young generation and by sticking 90's-2000's shows on their lineup TV Land thought this new lineup would attract young viewers and many people were shocked at this new image of TV Land. Because TV Land at first was meant to show classic sitcoms like Nick At Nite did and for a while it worked. But as I mentioned in my opening post why in the heck did TV Land add reruns of Steve Harvey's Family Feud to the lineup and how it survived to get ratings I don't understand? My only logical answer is that Steve Harvey must've asked TV Land in a secret deal to air the reruns of Family Feud considering that the show is very popular and I think that Steve Harvey was given lots of money from TV Land to air reruns of Family Feud. But TV Land was in general not a game show oriented channel. Another thing that TV Land did was on weekends they would sometimes show movies from the 80's like Say Anything or Peggy Sue Got Married or Footloose and they would repeat the same movies and add movies like Grease 2 Grease Sixteen Candles The Big Chill and An Officer And A Gentleman and I thought this was an odd move for TV Land to do and how movies got TV Land ratings as a mystery. But when Hot In Cleveland came to TV Land it actually saved them and it garnered ratings and with Betty White and Valerie Bertinelli as the stars that sitcom was what the doctor ordered for TV Land. But I think what TV Land needs to seriously think about doing is returning to it's old format that got them famous in the first place and if they showed classics like The Lucy Show I Love Lucy The Bob Newhart Show The Love Boat The Honeymooners and other classic TV and perhaps add The Ed Sullivan Show too TV Land's ratings would soar like a hawk and they would attract the older crowd of senior citizens between 65-80

Ratings. I remember when the channel started to change in the early to mid 2000s, when they started to add more modern shows, they got better ratings. Hot im Cleveland got them better ratings than their early days.

Another odd thing TV Land did and I don't know why or how they decided to do this was add Extreme Makeover Home Edition reruns to their lineup because that show seemed out of place for TV Land but I guess TV Land thought they could score ratings with reruns of reality shows. But what I think also caused the image change for TV Land was the demographic because every commercial you see on TV Land's commercial breaks was either for life insurance health insurance and medical commercials and mobility products which tells me that TV Land was aiming toward the senior citizen demographic of 55-75 which was odd for TV Land to do. But what I think could work for TV Land is not focusing so much on new sitcoms and sitcoms from the 2000's. And they should return to their old formula which was classic TV and they should add the following shows,
1. Eight Is Enough
2. Webster
3. Silver Spoons
4. Charles In Charge
5. My Three Sons
6. Father Knows Best
7. Hill Street Blues
8. Hunter
9. Quantum Leap 1989-1991 version
And with a lineup like this and even adding more classic TV could make TV Land get strong ratings again like they used to
