Default TMC

Can we limit the amount of content from other sites he’s allowed to post in a given day? It’s just post after post after post of regurgitated articles (most of it clickbait, some of it written by AI), YouTube videos, posts from other forums, listicles, and mean-spirited burn-book gossip. A lot of it borders on sensationalism and exploitation.

I could be wrong, but I don’t think most of his posts drive a whole lot of engagement. I don’t speak for anyone but myself, but it’s a real turn-off to see stuff like “How so-and-so RUINED season 2 of ‘Manimal’,” “The TRAGIC life and final days of the guy who voiced Brainy Smurf for six months in 1983,” “Hey! Remember the 1990s?,” “The HEARTBREAKING last photo of Ross from ‘You Can’t Do That on Television’ will leave you SPEECHLESS!”

I feel like it’s cheap, effortless, waaaay overboard, and — most importantly — buries under piles and piles of content aggregation threads people created in good faith using their own thoughts and their own words.

I don’t know. Maybe it’s just me. I am getting pretty curmudgeonly.

I dont think TMC is a person like Opus told us..

He doesnt ever reply to PMs and if you address him on the bases,he doesnt respond!!

That smells of a bot to me!!!

He has the highest post count here... (I thought Solomon did)

If a real person does cheque that account,It would be nice if they replied to my PM

I suspected he might be a bot, too, but he did respond to me a week or so ago when I criticized a video he shared about the mental-health struggles of Peter Robbins, who was the first person to voice Charlie Brown. I thought it was sensationalistic and capitalizing on someone else’s real-life tragedy for entertainment and/or ad clicks and that it was gross, especially considering how Robbins’s life ended.

So there’s definitely a human behind that account.

It's been theorized in past threads that he's paid by some of the trash sites he gets articles from, but there's really no way to prove that.

He spends a tremendous amount of time on this site, and probably uses a lot of resources doing research.

Besides Peter Robbins' struggles, he's also linked to Youtube clickbait on Ivan Dixon, who died many years ago. There are probably others--who knows why some of these people are getting sudden Youtube attention?

Put him on ignore, that might help to some degree.

It might, but it still buries other people’s posts for everyone else, which limits engagement with non-regurgitated content.

There's no built-in option to limit the amount of threads and posts per day. vBulletin.org shut down on August 24, 2024. That's where I got the modifications and plugins from a few years ago. I don't remember there being any plugins to limit the number of posts by member per day.

Some people might find his threads useful and informative. It might be helpful if he finds more related threads to post in instead of creating a new thread all the time. I merge some threads from time to time.

Putting him on your ignore list will completely hide his threads and posts while you are logged in on the boards.

I guess I’m the only one who feels this way. I can accept that and adjust accordingly.

I’m on your side. But I also know it’s not going to change. So I just stick to mocking him if I notice something particularly egregious.

But then I would lose mocking potential.

I think a lot of posters agree with you, based on what I've seen over the years. For the record JamesG regularly posts interesting news in a way that allows you to read the full item on here, and still attributes where it came from. This is the way it should be done.

For the record, I did place TMC on my ignore list and that didn’t solve the problem. He still shows up on the forum list; I just can’t see what he the body of his posts when I click on the links. (I can see all the replies, though.)
