I asked around, and I guess what I’m seeing and hearing is a mix of crows and ravens. I just haven’t figured out how to tell them apart yet. I guess ravens make a more high-pitched noise, while crows have that hoarse-sounding, “Aaaaah! Aaaaah! Aaaaaah!”

There used to be a lot more robins around here.

I have a friend who lives in the eastern suburbs, and she gets bluebirds. Out here in the western suburbs, we don't get them.

Near the garage door is a small volunteer tree, around six feet tall. A few years ago, a cardinal made a nest in there; that was cool. I guess they didn't like the activity, so they didn't come back.
