A couple points against it at the time: it was in black-and-white, when TV and especially NBC were moving to color; and it was filmed in New York, when prime time production was moving to LA.

I remember this series only having 2 seasons and in the NYC area the ABC affiliate ran the reruns on Saturday nights and absolutely enjoyed the show which was at the time one of very shows produced and shot on location in NYC.
