If he is alive, I hardly sympathize with him. It means he abandoned his family to commit a silly crime and let them sit around and wonder whatever happened to him without so much as a letter or a phone call. That is not much of a Dad or a man to be honest.

He is likely dead though, I suspect he was murdered the night of the robbery.

try a little nuance.

Cigars are not cigarettes. Cigars are not inhaled and are made from tobacco with few other additives. Although 15 a day is still more than a enough to cause several forms of cancer.

Cigarettes by contrast are inhaled into the lungs and contain many added chemicals which increase the risk further.

Cigarettes as we know them didn't even exist in the 1700s, so no idea why you even bothered bringing that up.

From the mid-20th century until the present day the life expectancy of a heavy cigarette smoker has been considerably lower than average in spite of whatever medical advancements we have made.

The photos of Dale very much give the impression of someone who is unfortunately likely to die within 10-15 years.

The photos of Dale remind me a lot of photos I've seen of my grandfather who dropped dead of a heart attack at age 57. I'd be willing to wager that they lived very similar cigarette and beer fueled lifestyles. Hell, they both were born and died in the same decades.

50K is a nice piece of money, you're right, but you have to factor in what Dale would have lost in the process. you're taking as if 50K went missing from a safe, people suspect Dale, he denies it but people suspect he did it, then yeah, you'd be correct, but this is a very different situation.

Dale had just bought a new truck, he had a home, he had a family that clearly loved him, he was only 50! he could have lived until his 80s or 90s...so let's think about it seriously, you leave your truck, your home, your family, your life and now you have to navigate the world and your financies for the rest of your life, knowing you're about to become a famous suspect, a criminal, on unsolved mysteries, so much so, we're here 40 years later discussing the case?

50K is a nice piece of change, but Dale with no means of transport, has his face plastered over the news, meaning he can't walk into somewhere the next town over or even the state over and ask for work, because he more than likely would be recognized, what would he do for work? for a passport if the plan was to leave the country?

let's say he was in on it, he left the plant that day or whenever with the clothes on his back and 50k to last him for the rest of him life, leaving behind him much more, right? so would this be smart? no!

now, you could definitely argue the case that dale wasn't smart and took the 50k, leaving behind his family, a home, a truck, a job and was promised a pension. but if he was a dummy, he'd have shown up by now, he'd have been caught. also the way those higher-ups at the plant acted, shows something was off. theres proof that the plant had it's days numbered. maybe the sale was already in place.

someone once posted here, "i'm a smoker, i can believe that dale left his truck, his home, but not his cigarettes"

that might sound like silly, but theres a lot of sense to that, so addicted to nicotine he didn't just take a pack of cigarettes with him, but a whole carton.

he would have lost a lot more than he gained, he could have easily lived into his 80s or 90s, that 50k wouldn't have lasted for 40 years, meaing he would have needed to work, do things, and yet we have no trace of him.

I would not argue any of those things-he was murdered in the plant by the person on that tape, he never left other than under the covers & was then disposed of somewhere.

The only question is was he in on it or somebody else there was & he was just an unfortunate victim? My belief is probably the former-the plot was to tie him up & rough him up a bit to make it look realistic so the company couldn't fire him & he would not spend any of his share for a long time.

your reply seems to suggest that you think dale was roughed up a little and said "i wasn't in on it"

thats not what happened, dale hasn't been seen since that night.

No, I am sure that was the plan agreed between him & whoever was involved, but the plan was then changed on him if he was the inside man. If he wasn't then he was the unlucky victim of whoever it was & their & the killers greed.

He has been missing for nearly 40 years & legally deceased for 12 years, he is not on some tropical beach sipping Martinis, laughing about he got one over on them.

What I don't understand that wasn't done back in 87/88 when this happened, is that it's quite simple to get the list of employees and recently let go employees even back then.

Why didn't the authorities track those employees and ex employees down and interview them and get alibis for that night? See who may or may not match or look similar to the masked man in the video? It feels like they didn't really try much.

I say back then because if they do it now, there's going to be many of them dead or hard to track down.

You make an interesting point...Without knowing this case i would never have knew that a glass plant would have high amounts of plantinum worth that kind of money.. it seems like you'd have to work there to know that.

makes sense that an angry ex-employee who was let go, decided to do this.

but the way the management acted tells you they were involved, reading up on this case it's become clear that the plant was done for, and the sale was already in place before the robbery...makes sense for the owners or management to sell up and then do the insurance job on the plantinum.

on the UM segment they called dale a "marginal employee" although he at one point intervenied in something that saved the plant money and even others workers, and if he was "marginal" why keep him on and let others go?

to set him up later? they threw him under the bus on the segment, fiiled an insurance claim, got the money and sold the plant... and dale has never been seen again..

What I also find strange now that the real true footage has been released: (I am not talking about the UM reenactment. I am talking about the actual released horribly preserved 3 camera flipping every 3 seconds video footage they released I think in 2019.)

What I can see that I can't explain is that at 10:45:53 Dale and the masked man walked towards the camera and were out of view. At 10:46:32 the masked man is walking back in the same exact direction carrying what looks like is a book bag but in his hand.

I never saw him leave. Is this a 2nd masked man? If it's not a 2nd one, how did that masked man teleport back within 39 seconds?
INFACT you can see him even SOONER than the 39 seconds! So HOW?! The camera flips too often for him to have killed Dale, and then walked back, grab the backpack, and then walking back into frame in less than 39 seconds.

I would love to see the layout. Is there a way back towards they walked that's off camera that he took to be able to come back around the same way within LESS THAN 39 seconds? Is it a second masked man?

I fully believe Dale was in that big bag. The masked man filled up his book bag with the aluminum. That big bag wheeled out was absolutely Dale's body. I'm convinced. That look at the camera was Dale basically saying "Welp. This is the last you'll see of me." A look of fear and knowing he's doomed.
