Default Why did Shop Til You Drop exist?

I cannot figure out how Shop Til You Drop became a monster hit for Lifetime in 1991 but I tried watching it in reruns on GSN and I can see why in the world it lasted so long because I think it was trying to become a shopping version of the kids show Double Dare with the challenges and couples playing for prizes. I also can't understand why Dee Bradley Baker was the announcer? Because when I saw Shop Til You Drop I found Dee Bradley Baker so annoying that they should've had a better announcer or kept Mark L. Walberg. But you can see why Pat Finn hosted this show after The Joker's Wild remake in 1990 because I think Pat wanted to be a game show superstar and Shop Til You Drop was his ticket and Pat Finn went on to The Big Spin. The other part of the show I disliked was the Shopper's Challenge question round because some of the questions were dated to me and they could've done a lot better with this round. Why Shop Til You Drop was revived for PAX i'll never solve the mystery because setting it in a Sam's Club like store ruined it but JD Roberto was an okay host

It might have existed because of Supermarket Sweep's popularity. But Shop Til You Drop is no Supermarket Sweep.

I think the main reason why Shop Til You Drop became a hit for Lifetime was after they saw how successful Supermarket Sweep was Lifetime wanted to do the same thing for Shop Til You Drop and it worked but I think when PAX aired Shop Til You Drop they ruined it and by changing it's image such as messing with the theme song Shop Til You Drop just wasn't the same and I can't figure how it still got good ratings for PAX. But how Pat Finn was chosen to host this show I'll never know the answer to

Why Shop Til You Drop got rebooted and renamed The All-New Shop Til You Drop for PAX is a mystery and I think this version was the weakest reboot i've watched because putting it in Sam's Club like set ruined Shop Til You Drop for good. But I think replacing Pat Finn with JD Roberto was a big mistake because at the time Pat Finn was hosting The Big Spin and JD Roberto was chosen because of money. But if Shop Til You Drop gets rebooted again they should have a better version

Personally, I thought Dee Baker was okay when he started on the last Family Channel season (1997-98), but when the PAX version started in 2000, he did his full character costumes practically every day to a point where the show was becoming a caricature of itself. Then, when I saw his characters were being included in the prize plugs, I couldn't take it anymore. It became a cartoon parody of a game show at that time. Surprisingly, all of this was still head and shoulders above the bore fest that was the Roberto 2003-05 version (there were a few things that version did right, but not many).
