It’s probably my favorite episode of the series. Especially when Nell is on the ferry at night, singing, with the fair all lit up in the background. I can’t find any old newspaper articles talking about when they were shooting there. All I could find was someone’s picture on Flickr, of Nell and Joey in the street parade at the end, and the poster mentioned that she saw Nell later that evening at one of the famous Gumbo restaurants, I think The Gumbo Store or something like that. And it looked sooooooooo sticky and humid out, like during the Ferry scene, poor Nell’s hair is a mess. I bet the hairstylists weren’t too thrilled about the New Orleans humidity lol. Obviously the hotel interior and airplane scenes were shot in the Metromedia Square studios in LA, in early September from what the production guide says. Did the GaB crew shoot at the fair right before that, in late August?
It also looked like it was at least 100 degrees in the Gospel choir tent. If anyone can find some old newspaper clippings, post them! I’m honestly surprised the fair lasted as long as it did, since they were basically making negative profits. |
