I got to see the Billy Joel concert special this morning and I LOVED it and it was lots of !!! FUN !!!. I was impressed with the way they put this concert together and Billy proves that he still has fun to share. I was surprised that he sang An Innocent Man and he still sings it with such talent. But I could've done away with Crystal Taliaferro's version of River Deep Mountain High and River Of Dreams and put Uptown Girl and We Didn't Start The Fire in it's place. Also where was Just The Way You Are and Lullaby "Goodnight My Angel?." The concert was very well done but I do not see why people made such a fuss over Piano Man getting cut off and ending the show. The version I saw on Paramount+ was the whole complete version and why CBS is rebroadcasting it again is just odd to me. I think CBS wanted to mainly do this so they could fit in the local news and other shows early. I wonder what Billy Joel will say about CBS doing this to his big concert?

Hi, Hawkee! I saw some of that concert. Billy Joel still has a great voice? Glad you enjoyed it! I agree that he should complain to CBS about how it ended. Do you think he will?

If it was honestly LIVE then I can see the uproar over the show being cut off. But since it was taped....
Why not air it at 8 PM EST instead of 9? The same issue is just gonna come up again. |

It only took a major network two attempts to air the correct version of Piano Man.

Why I think CBS decided to have Billy Joel's 100th concert was because I think Billy is releasing a comeback album later this year and his new single Turn The Lights Back On is part of this forthcoming new album. When you look at it Billy Joel hasn't released a new album since 1993's River Of Dreams and I think he mainly wanted this concert as a way to show fans he was back and the new song was mainly to promote this new album which I haven't heard anything else about since the single's release in February. But you know what Billy Joel should do in the future? Release a Christmas album because Billy Joel hasn't released a Christmas album before and he would do Christmas songs justice and people would buy the album if it were to exist. But if CBS has another Billy Joel concert special again they better not cut off his singing at the end like they did this concert and I hope CBS learns their lesson and doesn't do it ever again

Speaking of concert encores from Madison Square Garden, SiriusXM is encoring Billy Joel's final 150th concert yet again now. The 2nd half especially kept getting worse, sounded like he was getting drunker as the night went on. I would rather hear songs from his classic era where he isn't getting drunk and is in top musical form.
If I had paid hundreds of dollars for a ticket on the final one, would have felt ripped off. I would though, like Sirius to play his entire 100th concert that was edited to bits by CBS. He sounded a lot better just a few months earlier this year. But the math isn't adding up. If he had a whole decade of performing every month with having to interrupt in 2020 for shutdowns, maybe that would be close to the 100 in March. But did he perform numerous times a month since the 100th to get to 150? That would make a whole third of his decade long residency this year alone for just 4-5 months.

I got to watch the Billy Joel concert again on Halloween and this time I was impressed that they finally got the correct version of Piano Man and what I think happened in my eyes is CBS did this so they could add more commentary for it because in between the concert they also had interviews with fans and Billy Joel's band and behind the scenes footage of how the concert was made. But what I think Billy Joel should've done was talk to CBS and ask them why they cut off Piano Man in the first place because I think CBS wants to create a whole series of Billy Joel concerts similar to what NBC does during the holidays with Michael Buble and they want to pay Billy a lot of money to do these concerts. But as I mentioned many times in this thread I think Billy Joel is planning to release a comeback album and his newest single Turn The Lights Back On is gonna be on that album if it ever gets released because Billy Joel hasn't released a new album since 1993's River Of Dreams and all he seems to release are greatest hits albums and a new album is just what Billy Joel fans need

I would've redesigned this concert special and how I would've had the set list is,
1. Piano Man 2. The Ballad Of Billy The Kid 3. Stop In Nevada 4. My Life 5. Big Shot 6. She's Got A Way 7. New York State Of Mind 8. Leave A Tender Moment Alone 9. An Innocent Man 10. Medley: Uptown Girl/Moving Out/She's Always A Woman 11. Vienna 12. We Didn't Start The Fire 13. Baby Grand with John Legend 14. The Downeaster Alexa 15. River Of Dreams 16. Lullabye "Goodnight My Angel" 17. All About Soul 18. Why Should I Worry I don't understand why CBS couldn't design this setlist for the Billy Joel concert special? But I think that they could've had less talking and interviews and showed the actual concert instead. But I think Columbia Records is trying to cash in on Billy Joel's popularity and they will probably rerelease his albums in anniversary editions in the future due to the HBO MAX Billy Joel documentary |

Billy Joel’s Madison Square Garden Concert Film Sets Blu-ray Release
by Anna Tingley May 26, 2026 Billy Joel’s Madison Square Garden concert special is getting a physical release. Billy Joel: The 100th: Live at Madison Square Garden — The Complete Concert is now available for pre-order, with the release set for May 29. The one-disc release is listed at $24.98 on Amazon, with a DVD edition also available for pre-order. The Blu-ray has a listed runtime of 2 hours and 29 minutes. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GRCCPGD1...-1236759326%2F The release captures Joel’s 100th performance as part of his record-breaking Madison Square Garden residency, filmed on March 28, 2024. The concert, captured in 4K resolution, was directed by Paul Dugdale and produced by Enliven Entertainment. The physical release arrives after a special run on CNN, which Variety reported drew 5.73 million viewers on its initial Sunday night broadcast. The concert marked a milestone in Joel’s long-running relationship with Madison Square Garden. The singer ended his record-setting residency at the New York arena in July 2024, closing out an 150-show run that had made him one of the venue’s defining modern performers. For his final show on July 25, 2024, Joel brought out Axl Rose for an electric performance of “Highway to Hell.” https://variety.com/2026/shopping/ne...ne-1236759326/ |
