To be honest I had never even heard of James Karen until I saw him in Pathmark commercials when he passed away and I want to know how James Karen got to be the spokesman for Pathmark? I think at the time supermarkets were big on celebrities as supermarket spokespeople and I think why James Karen was chosen to promote Pathmark was because James Karen hoped to become a big actor and get his name out because when celebrities who are just getting famous start out doing commercials and with Pathmark James Karen hoped that Pathmark commercials would give him more fame in TV and movies. How many Pathmark commercials was James Karen in and did he also appear at grand openings of Pathmark supermarkets as part of the commercial deal?
