Default CHCH Winter 2026

After seeing "The Mod Squad" debut on Friday, I took a quick look at the current CHCH retro schedule and learned that by the time February arrives, there may be more additions to the lineup coming. Either a show will begin again from the first episode, like what happened with "Leave It To Beaver" or, more likely, it will be replaced with something totally unexpected. If I had to guess, I would say that, given CHCH's recent tendency to revive 1970s action dramas, I would expect a show like "Police Woman" starring Angie Dickinson as a real possibility. Or they could listen to me and include more sitcoms in the lineup. Whatever happens, I will keep you posted. This is how the lineup stands at the moment:

10:00 AM MATLOCK (Season 5)

The reruns that never end. Expect Matlock to go away in the spring and come back in the fall like a bad cold.

11:00 LEAVE IT TO BEAVER (Season 2)

11:30 LAVERNE & SHIRLEY (Season 8)

The final season is mostly Laverne without Shirley. I stopped watching after they moved to LA.

This should be where the first lineup change happens. The show will end on the last week in January. (Target dates: January 28 or 29)

12:00 PM THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN (Season 5)

Another show in its final season. It will also end during the same week as "Laverne & Shirley". (Jan. 27)

1:00 THE ROCKFORD FILES (Season 2)

2:00 THE A-TEAM (Season 5)

This one will end early, on January 16, and will then re-start from Season 1 the next day.

3:00 THE MOD SQUAD (Season 1)

Debuted Friday, January 2. The second episode will air tomorrow. If you miss any of it, you can catch the episodes online on its Parrot TV app.

4:00 CHARLES IN CHARGE (Season 5)

How did this terrible show ever last 5 seasons? The last episode is expected to be on January 27.

4:30 COACH (Season 6)

5:00 ALL IN THE FAMILY (Season 5)

So there you have it. I'll have a further update in about 2 weeks to fill you in on the updated lineup with all the changes.

Unfortunately, for some shows like "All In the Family", they seem to be running edited versions now. When they started running the show, it looked like it was uncut versions. For example, for the Christmas draft dodger show they cut out some very memorable bits. Disappointing.

Hoping for some new stuff by the end of the month!

Sal - about Charles in Charge

I am currently watching it because I have never seen it before. It is a show I am glad to see once, but don't need to see it again.

I have a question here if anyone can answer.
Charles worked for 2 families. The original family was on CBS and the show was cancelled after 1 season. After almost 2 years, the show was brought back in syndication. My question is how does syndication work? I know it means the show was not on one of the big 3 networks. Where then was the show shown?

Now on a tragic note. I don't watch All in the Family since it is not for me. But for those who watch it, are you still able to currently?

They've added lots of Universal Studios shows lately, which is great. Maybe they'll show Adam-12 which hasn't been on Canadian TV since like forever. I'm expecting to see The Munsters too. Dragnet, Kojak and Night Gallery are other possibilities.

That's not going to happen, unfortunately. The only change that will occur in the next 2 weeks will be "The Bionic Woman" replacing "The Six Million Dollar Man" at noon once that show ends. All others will go back and start again from Season 1 including the dreaded "Charles In Charge".

Syndication is when a show is offered to a group of stations that have the option to run it at any time that is not used by the networks, normally weekdays in the early afternoon hours or once a week in prime time. One of the most successful syndicated series ever was "Baywatch". It ran on NBC in 1989 but then they cancelled it after one year. It was picked up on syndication by stations all over the US and Canada and it soon became the most watched series in the world, as it was also popular overseas. "Charles In Charge" followed the same pattern: one year on CBS with the rest in syndication but didn't have nearly as much success. If you've seen the show, you can understand why.

Out of those 3 shows, I would say "Who's The Boss?" is the worst show.

Yeah I like it too. It's one of the earliest formatted action shows in television along with Ironside. Peggy Lipton was very pretty and gone too soon .

I am also seeing the Mod Squad for the first time and enjoying it.

The only other show that I watched that premiered in 1968 was Hawaii 5-0 and the first year of that show was so boring.

I don't know of any sitcoms that premiered either in 1967 or 1968. Only That Girl I know premiered in 1966. So in the time frame that Mod Squad, Ironside, Hawaii 5-0 and Mission Impossible premiered, there were hardly any new sitcoms.

I have some good news and bad news regarding the CHCH-TV spring schedule. The good news is that "Matlock" will finally end at the end of this month. That will make "Leave It To Beaver" and "Laverne And Shirley" move to 10:00 am, an hour earlier from their current time of 11:00 am. The bad news is that the 11:00 am slot will then be filled by "Knight Rider", where it will likely remain until the fall season begins.

Yesterday, I noticed that CBS had already announced their fall schedule a month earlier than usual, which completely surprised me. This got me thinking that if the other main networks (ABC, NBC, FOX) were to do the same, then the Canadian networks like CHCH, CTV, and Global could plan their fall primetime schedules early as well. This would mean that we can get to see what CHCH might have planned for their fall retro lineup as well, or at the very least, they can give us a small hint sometime before "Knight Rider" ends.

CHCH MORNINGS - EFFECTIVE FRIDAY MAY 1

10:00 AM LEAVE IT TO BEAVER

10:30 LAVERNE AND SHIRLEY

11:00 KNIGHT RIDER

I am not a fan of Knight Rider, The A Team, The Bionic Woman. i would love some surprises.

I am still watching the Mod Squad and still enjoying it. lots of actors before they were famous on it. Martin Sheen was just on it. and i still enjoy watching Peggy Lipton.

Archie Bunker should be ending soon no? i hope they dont start from the beginning again.

I think they will start from the beginning again. Someone mentioned before that CHCH always allows a new retro show to go through 2 cycles before they replace it. This is what they are doing with other shows and I would expect the same thing to happen here. Also, I wouldn't expect any surprise additions like The Mod Squad was to show up until fall.

The CHCH Upfronts are coming up soon. They normally publish a small preview clip to see what's going to be shown in the fall and I'll post that on this page when I see it.

Mod Squad is great and I love shows from that era, late 1960s to early 1970s. Some of the hottest shows on TV then were Batman and Bewitched in primetime and Dark Shadows in the afternoon, all on ABC and I saw them all when they first aired (yes I'm old lol).

I hope they add Dark Shadows. All of the episodes are on Tubi and I've been watching it there, but there must be lots of people who have forgotten the show or are too young to have heard of it who would watch it. I've narrowed down the optimum range of episodes CHCH could show without having to buy the whole series. In case anyone at the station ever reads this it's episode numbers 113 to 466. About half the episodes are black and white and the rest in color. If they show two episodes each weekday that's 35 weeks of shows. It would start only one week before the first supernatural storyline. And only two episodes before a kidnapping subplot that would hook anyone who happened to tune in. It would end after the first time travel storyline concluded. And if it started airing in late August the arrival of Barnabas Collins the vampire would occur just in time for Halloween. CHCH could bring back Bewitched too and it would be like 1968 all over again.
