There has been an identification of the suspected offender in the murders of Julianne "Julie" Williams and Laura "Lollie" Winans in the Shenandoah National Park in 1996. His name was Walter "Leo" Jackson. He died in 2018 in prison.

It has long been thought that the murder of Alicia Showalter Reynolds was perhaps linked to the deaths of Williams and Winans. If true, that would likely indicate that the murderer of Williams and Winans was also the Route 29 stalker (who is thought to have killed Reynolds, also in 1996).

Below is the Route 29 Stalker composite alongside the Walter Jackson.

Aside from both pictures being of the same angle and both men having hair I don't see it.

I agree with you. "Larry Breeden" (Route 29 Stalker alias) was described with some specificity as having reddish brown hair that he would sweep back often. He also reportedly drove a dark colored pickup truck.

Jackson apparently was graying even in 1996 (when that photo above was taken). Also he reportedly drove in 1996 was similar to a brownish AMC EAGLE Wagon from the early 80's.

Unfortunate, for the case of Alicia Reynolds. Happy for the family of Ms. Williams and Ms. Winans.

I actually reported this to the FBI and Unsolved tipline that day. Same general location as the double murder, and within 2 months time frame. I hadn't seen this post yet, but me and another guy on the UnresolvedMysteries subreddit noticed it. It's said that Walter Jackson changed vehicles a lot as well. Lots of attacks on that same road!
