I found a site (http://zvbxrpl.blogspot.com/2008/07/...-pictures.html) where Filthy Pictures has been compiled into a double-length episode. The bit that I noticed was when, in the beginning of part two Jennifer finds Carlson asleep in his office, she smiles on seeing him and wakes him up. On the compilation version the "Written by...", "Produced by..." and "Directed by..." titles aren't there, while they're present on the VHS version and, IIRC, the part two episode I've seen. I believe that this story was meant as a one hour episode, but went out as a two-parter, but does anyone know if it ever went out as an hour episode complete with the scene I've described?

I've seen this episode 3 or 4 times but only as a two-parter.

As far as I know, going by all the episode guides and listings I've ever seen, Filthy Pictures has always been a two-parter, but wasn't it first meant to be an hour-long special? Also, it's often the case that some TV stations edit two-parters into a single, double-length episode. The version I've seen on the website I mentioned looks like someone managed to do just that, but as I said, the credits that, in the two-parter were superimposed over Jennifer seeing Carlson asleep in his office, were absent from the version on the website.
Nowadays the people making TV series seem to want to make it difficult to edit episodes into a compilation by taking ages to run the credits over what's happening on screen. |

It aired on CBS as a one-hour special; so did "Dr. Fever and Mr. Tide." These episodes were cut into two parts for syndication. The CBS version doesn't have credits over that scene with Jennifer and Mr Carlson.

Thanks for confirming what I'd guessed. It'd be nice if, if series 2, series 3 and series 4 of WKRP get released on DVD, Filthy Pictures and Dr Fever & Mr Tide were in the original single part version rather than cut into two.

WGN Aired it last weekend as a full hour, running about 49 minutes without commercials.
