Claire Danes
by Jesse Eisenberg (Oscar-nominated Writer, Actor and Filmmaker) ![]() A word of warning to actors: you do not want to be on the losing end of an argument with Claire Danes. You will not just lose. You will be crushed. The first scene I worked on with Claire was, luckily, just a brief scuffle—my character wasn’t ambitious enough, hers was too dismissive. After the scene, I did the thing that amateurs do: I walked up to Claire Danes—one of our most celebrated actors—and I told her I thought she was amazing. She was polite and returned the compliment. But I dumbly pressed: “No. That was exhilarating. My heart is racing.” Whatever she stirred in me in those brief moments is what she’s done for audiences. Claire has been America’s catharsis, consistently making the unthinkable relatable. She’s a gift to our culture. Another word to actors: do whatever you can to get a role opposite Claire Danes. https://time.com/collection/100-most.../claire-danes/ |
