Disney Loses Latest Attempt to Stall Trial over Gina Carano’s "The Mandalorian" Firing
by Dominic Patten Oct. 17, 2024 Unless there is a shift in the legal Force or a big-bucks settlement, the Disney and Gina Carano will go head-to-head at trial next year over the former mixed martial artist’s 2021 firing from "The Mandalorian". That trial will start September 29, 2025, to be specific. “Having considered the parties’ submissions, the relevant law, and the record in this case, the Court DENIES the Motion,” U.S. District Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett wrote earlier this week. https://deadline.com/2024/10/disney-...25-1236119451/ |

Gina Carano Piledrives Disney over "The Mandalorian" Firing with Settlement & Job Offers
by Dominic Patten August 7, 2025 Ahead of a September trial date, Disney and Gina Carano have put down their lightsabers over the former MMA fighter’s more-than-yearlong discrimination lawsuit over her 2021 firing from "The Mandalorian" over political postings. In a joint filing today in federal court, the ex-Star Wars series star and the Bob Iger-run conglomerate asked for the Elon Musk-backed legal action to be dismissed — with the company clearly on bended knee. “Pursuant to Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 41(a)(1)(A)(ii), Plaintiff Gina Carano, on the one hand, and Defendants The Walt Disney Company, Lucasfilm Ltd. LLC, and Huckleberry Industries (US) Inc., on the other, by and through their undersigned counsel, hereby stipulate that this action and all claims, including all defenses asserted therein, be dismissed with prejudice,” said lawyers for both sides in a short but to-the-point document. While no specific details on the settlement have been revealed, Disney and Carano clearly are back in business. To that, a source close to Carano told me she is “happy with how things were dealt with.” “The Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm are pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement with Gina Carano to resolve the issues in her pending lawsuit against the companies,” a spokesperson said Thursday. “Ms. Carano was always well respected by her directors, co-stars, and staff, and she worked hard to perfect her craft while treating her colleagues with kindness and respect.” Hoping “this brings some healing to the force,” Carano later said, putting our a full statement thanking Musk ( “A man I’ve never met, who did this Good Samaritan deed for me in funding my lawsuit”). Carano added: “I am excited to flip the page and move onto the next chapter. My desires remain in the arts, which is where I hope you will join me.” https://deadline.com/2025/08/gina-ca...ed-1236481814/ |

Gina Carano Shares Update on Where she Stands with "The Mandalorian" Team
by Derek Lawrence April 29, 2026 It's been five years since Gina Carano was fired from the Star Wars series "The Mandalorian" after controversial social media posts, but Disney and Lucasfilm settled Carano's lawsuit against them last summer. In a statement on the matter, a Lucasfilm spokesperson said the company was looking forward to possible future collaborations with Carano, and the fighter-turned-actor is now sharing that she's caught up with Jon Favreau and Lucasfilm chief creative officer Dave Filoni. “I think it was, ‘let’s touch base,’” Carano told The Hollywood Reporter of the January Zoom. “Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni were two people that I always respected, and we went through two seasons together, and we had a great relationship. And even during everything that was happening, Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau were never the bad guys to me.” Carano didn't want to disclose the discussed topics, only revealing that it was an "important conversation" to "make sure everybody was good" and "to mend whatever." While she's reconnected with Favreau and Filoni, Carano told THR that she hasn't spoken to Pedro Pascal since their costar Carl Weathers died in February 2024. "Me and Pedro don't keep in touch," she shared. Carano also said that she hopes The Mandalorian & Grogu film does well at the theatres. “Jon Favreau directed it, and he’s a good man. He’s a great storyteller. I would really like to see all of this turmoil within the Star Wars fandom kind of come to an end. It just feels like it’s a never-ending war.” Carano added that "I love peace," and she wants "all parties" to be happy so that "we can move on." https://ew.com/gina-carano-shares-an...talks-11961631 |
