CBS Sports 1990: The Nightmare Season (Part 1: Introduction & Calendar)

I hope you've had a wonderful Christmas so far. Tonight, I have a special Christmas upload, as I finally have the beginning of a planned look at CBS Sports' 1990 and the way their "Dream Season" didn't pan out as hoped.

This is part 1 of "CBS Sports 1990: The Nightmare Season" and I decided to focus on the introduction and a look at the calendar of events.

This is part 2 of "CBS Sports 1990: The Nightmare Season", and this episode focuses on the 1989-90 NFC playoffs (starting with the wild-card game on New Year's Eve 1989) through the first major event in Super Bowl XXIV. This upload also covers the Cotton Bowl Classic and some of the college and NBA games during that month.

This is part 3 of "CBS Sports 1990: The Nightmare Season", and this episode focuses on the month of February - with the major events being the NBA All-Star Game and one of the few events to live up to the "Dream Season" hype: The Daytona 500.

Also, as I was finishing editing I had forgotten about CBS having a President's Day NBA game between the Chicago Bulls and Houston Rockets. That's why there's no audio for that segment.

My apologies on the delay, but I wanted to get something out in this series before the end of the month.

This is part 4 of "CBS Sports 1990: The Nightmare Season", and this episode focuses on the month of March, with most of the focus being on March Madness.

I'm back, and I did not mean to be absent in terms of the next part. This is part 5 of "CBS Sports 1990: The Nightmare Season", and this episode focuses on the NCAA men's basketball championship, The Masters, the start of CBS baseball coverage, the end of the 1989-90 NBA regular season and the first major personnel shakeup in the firing of Brent Musburger.

This is part 6 of "CBS Sports 1990: The Nightmare Season", and in my "State of the Channel" report I mentioned planning to break up the segments covering CBS' NBA playoff coverage. This episode, accordingly, starts with the First Round and the games CBS aired in that round.

Because of the plans to break that series up, this and the others dealing with the 1990 NBA Playoffs will probably be shorter than the others in this series have been.

This is part 7 of "CBS Sports 1990: The Nightmare Season", and contains a look at the Conference Semi-Finals and Conference Finals (which as in the case of the previous video, will be a shorter video).

This is part 8 of "CBS Sports 1990: The Nightmare Season", and contains a look at the 1990 NBA Finals as CBS bid farewell to the NBA after 17 years.

And now a special Christmas gift as the look at "CBS Sports 1990: The Nightmare Season" advances to Part 9 and the other sports events to air on CBS in June 1990 (covering the resumption of CBS MLB and NASCAR coverage along with the College World Series and the lone non-NASCAR race to air on CBS).

Also, this part means that we've passed the first half of 1990 and will be looking at events in the second half of that year.

And now we're entering the second half of calendar year 1990 in this series; with the main areas that will be focused on for July 1990 being CBS coverage of the 1990 MLB All-Star Game...and the ensuing weather chaos as well as CBS closing out their NASCAR coverage for the season with the DieHard 500 at Talladega.

In keeping with the planned bi-monthly schedule; we now come to Part 11 as we turn the calendar to August 1990 and CBS' baseball and NFL preseason coverage.
