"Albertson's Albertson's,
"Shop Every Day For Lower Prices, "Albertson's Is Your Supermarket" This Albertson's commercial is rare from the 1970's and i'm guessing that was first seen in 1975. Now if you have heard Glen Campbell's hit Galveston the opening jingle seen at the beginning of this post uses the same music as Galveston but instead of Galveston the jingle says Albertson's. Then the commercial begins with Joe Albertson talking about what amazing prices Albertson's has to offer then the commercial ends with a still of an Albertson's store. There seemed to be a second version of this commercial which is the same but features employees of Albertson's shown at the end of the commercials. I wondered what made Albertson's choose Glen Campbell's Galveston for their jingle and I also wonder if Glen Campbell and Jimmy Webb asked Albertson's to use the music for this jingle? Because this commercial jingle was short-lived and it seemed surprising to hear Galveston being parodied and retitled Albertson's |
