Farrah's Funeral: 'Goodbye Sweet Girl'
By Eunice Oh

Originally posted Tuesday June 30, 2009 09:40 PM EDT

A tearful Ryan and Redmond O'Neal joined Farrah Fawcett's closest friends and family for the actress's private funeral Tuesday afternoon at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in downtown Los Angeles.

Marla Maples, Joan Collins and Tatum O'Neal were among the 200 guests attending the hour-long Catholic service, where longtime pal Alana Stewart and Fawcett's doctor Lawrence Piro delivered the eulogies.

"Goodbye sweet girl," said Stewart. "[Farrah] never felt sorry for herself during her illness ... she fought cancer furiously."

'Angel in Heaven'

"She's the most beautiful angel in heaven," Stewart added. "She always seemed so indestructible."

With city police and private security lining the streets, Ryan and Redmond arrived at the cathedral around 3:50 p.m. and served as pallbearers, carrying Fawcett's casket, adorned with yellow and orange flowers.

A man in a kilt played "Amazing Grace" on a bagpipe at the beginning of the service, which also included Bible readings and prayer.

After the service ended, vans shuttled guests to the reception at the Jonathan Club, where a band played Fawcett's favorite songs, including some from Van Morrison.

What a touching article. It is great that Tatum was there, seeing as she and Farrah didn't always get along while Tatum was growing up. It seems that they had become closer in the last few years.

When I first heard that Farrah was near death, I did not want to believe it

Same here. I really hoped she would be able to beat it.

Sad You are already missed!! :(

Even though I knew it was coming, that didn't take away from the sting I felt when I heard about her death. She was such a beautiful woman, both on the inside and out, and I'm sure she is a beautiful now. R.I.P. Ms. Fawcett, you are sorely missed!! And may God bless your entire family during this difficult time!!!

O'Neal's Son Blasts Dad Over Fawcett Funeral
3 July 2009 5:21 AM, PDT

Ryan O'Neal's estranged son Griffin has launched a bitter attack on his father after he was banned from attending Farrah Fawcett's funeral on Tuesday.

Father and son fell out in 2007 following a fight at the family home, which ended with Ryan firing a shotgun into the stairwell.

O'Neal banned his reformed drug-addict offspring from his partner's memorial service, insisting: "He's a bad guy."

But Griffin was left fuming because he wanted to be able to pay his last respects to his dad's partner.

He says, "I think he's afraid of me because I know the truth about what happened in the later days. He's a dark man and he needs to be put in his place. The reason why I'm not there is because I represent the truth and God forbid the truth coming out."

Speaking outside the funeral, Griffin told reporters, "She's mad I'm not in there."

The Charlie's Angels star's own troubled son with O'Neal, Redmond, gave a reading at the ceremony after he was granted a three-hour release from prison, where he's serving time on drug charges.

Fawcett died last month after a three-year battle with cancer.

^ YIKES. Though I did find it touching that Tatum attended, because they'd had a stormy relationship in the past. Tatum said on one of those shows (I think it was ET) that she thought Farrah was very brave.

I was going to post this about one month ago but couldn't find the article.

Farrah was very friendly, as this story shows. It was printed in the National Enquirer (March 11, 2003). The title of the article is "Cop To The Stars Tells All."

"I met her when she was a big star on 'Charlie's Angels' and was married to Lee Majors. They lived up on Mulholland [Drive]

One winter we'd had some really heavy rains, and there had been some landslides where they live. I got detailed to spend the night manning a barricade to make sure people didn't go up there. About two in the morning this Mercedes comes along it's Farrah Fawcett. It was pouring rain. I stopped her car. She was very nice. She lived just a little further up on a side street before you got to the slides so I opened the barricade and let her through.

Half an hour later I see her Mercedes coming back down and she'd brought me a plate of sandwiches, some fruit and a soda. She said, 'I feel bad for you being out here all night long in the rain, so I made you a little something.'

I was stunned. Here was this big star and she'd gone to all that trouble for me. I've always been a big fan of hers because of that act of kindness."

Nice story. The policeman's name is Terry Schauer.

That sounds like Farrah. She was so sweet. I always felt that her life would have been so much happier had she stayed with Lee Majors. He had a lot of class while Ryan, not so much. His kids drove her crazy, Ryan drove her crazy. I guess you can't help who you fall in love with or out of love with; but even at the time, I was disappointed that she ended her marriage with Lee Majors. She even took his name professionally. They made a gorgeous couple.

I have to agree with that. She and Lee made a great couple. She even had it written into her CA contract that she would be home in time to cook Lee dinner. She totally broke his heart when she dumped him for Ryan. Who knows how things would've turned out had she and Lee stayed married for the rest of her life?

When she left Lee Majors, my Mom said, "Why did she leave him for that guy (Ryan)?"

I was hoping I would meet her at an autograph show but she never did appear at the one I go to... Hollywood Collectors Show.

Rest In Peace Farrah, We All miss you very much.

Did anyone notice that Farrah and her sister Diane were both 62 when they died? and they both died of cancer.

That is so sad. Farrah's dad is the only survivor of the family, having outlived his wife and both of his children.
