I mean high school, as this is sort of a followup to my earlier poll on what to do with a 4th season - I said a neat ending, in my mind, would be to have the final scene 10 years later, with one of the Sweathogs (who wouldn't need much makeup :-) coming in as the new teacher. Not necessarily for the same class, mind you.
So, which do you think it would be, if any? My mind is with Washington, partly because in my home state, you have to teach in order to coach, and I can easily see him coaching Buchanan Cannons (I don't think a name was ever given, if it wasn, my apologies. It just sounded cool. :-) ) But, at least a small argument could be made for each. And, it could be Freddie, even if in NYC you don't have to teach in order to coach. Another reason I like him - in addition to his investing the class money - is that he learned the lesson aabout the math test even after he beat Mr. Kotter at basketball. that's the kind of lesson that sticks with a person, and I can see him thinking that others need to learn that. Horshack might make a good Kindergarten or primary school teacher; I could see him really gushing over "letter people" and all kinds of fun kid stuff and getting the little ones excited about it. I don't see him in high school, but as I say in the poll, he was apparently the brightest and didnt' totally belong. (Or, did he just try hardest?) Barbarino had a job, but I don't really think I see him interested in teaching. Epstein, it wouldn't surprise me because I have heard other cases where the person with the roughest exterior was the one who wound up being impacted the most and going farthest because of someone like Mr. Kotter, so they become most concerned about others later. I I just dont' see it as of what I recall from the series. (Although the principal saw him as the son he never had; perhaps he has the same idea, trying to see the potential in him?) And, I can see some arguing that Washington would be in something higher up than teaching; not that teaching's not important, it's very important. But, if Woody Boyd can make Boston's City council, surely Freddie Washington could make New York's. :-) (I know, "Stop calling me Shirley.") If you think several, please say who. Obviously, I asked who was *most* likely, so if you think none, that's not allowed :-) Seriously, just vote for whoever you think has the best chance, even if it's only slim. Or, if you have to change it and figure it means any school. (Hence the Horshack as 1st grade teacher idea :-) BTW, I did write one Welcome back, Kotter story with Washington coaching, which you can see on www.fanfiction.net in the Kotter category, or here: http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/...d.php?t=223735 - about their trip after graduation. Enjoy it and my other stuff! |

I picked Washington.
Seemed the most charasmatic, the most adaptable, and knew how to talk to people. |

It would be Washington, he seemed to be the most together as far as this area is concerned ( though I hope it's not true about him owing Rick James $30,000, that's a lot of money).

I get the impression that Kotter was the joker of the class when he was in H.S., just like Barbarino. Then he realized one day that he actually liked school since he had so much FUN in it, even if he wasn't learning, so he put his mind to it and decided that he could have fun and learn at the same time--- and he became a teacher. I could see this same kind of epiphany happening to Vinnie, since he did seem like a very aware and conscious person. My vote goes to Vincent "Up your nose with a rubber hose!" Barbarino.
