Default Why did everyone think Paul McCartney would do good with Wings?

When I was listening to Pandora this question got me thinking about when Paul McCartney created the group Wings did people think that Wings would take off like a rocket like The Beatles did? Because I could never figure out why songs like Silly Love Songs and Let Em' In became popular hits and those two songs seem to be the most played Paul McCartney and Wings songs in the world. Did Paul think that he would become a teen idol of the 70's like Donny Osmond Rex Smith and Michael Jackson were? Because I never knew why Paul McCartney thought launching his own band would give him more fame

I seriously doubt that Paul formed Wings to achieve more fame. He was already famous enough without doing that. My guess is he just wanted to continue performing regardless of the reason. In regards to "Silly Love Songs" and "Let Em In", just remember the Beatles recorded dreck such as "Ob La Di Ob La Da" and "Maxwell's Silver Hammer".

Definitely agree with your statement. Usually when a big star go solo from its own band, he or she will have total artistic control over the new form band that accompany them. And in case of McCartney's band, no matter who was in the band, a member got replaced or got shuffled around, it will still be called The Wings.

There are many Beatles' fans who will either agree or disagree with both of us. Apparently John Lennon hated the song so that's good enough for me.

Agreed
It's actually one of my favorite Beatles songs. I love how upbeat and whimsical it is.

My uncle used to have a record of Paul McCartney and Wings and when my uncle would be cleaning his room he could be heard singing Let Em' In sometimes and my mom would get annoyed. But I think when Paul McCartney founded Wings he wanted to have a unique sound of his very own that was different than his work with The Beatles. But the songs that Paul really shows his talent are Band On The Run and Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey. But when you have songs like With A Little Luck My Love and the Christmas classic Wonderful Christmastime Paul McCartney can really outshine the other singers
