Since this thread was bumped, I did find an "update" from a blog written by "Shurlock Holmes" on medium.com:

https://medium.com/@crimeblogger1983...e-84ede5faacc8

It was just a letter she wrote about Deborah and didn't really contain any new information. However, a comment on the blog says that someone he knew back in 1990 who was a dead ringer for Megadeth guy. This same person commented 7 years ago on this website:

http://www.missingin.org/reg1210/deborah_deann_poe.htm

With the same person. Just thought that was interesting because it's possible that Megadeth guy could potentially be the key to solving the case. He could have seen Deborah outside or getting into a car with someone.

A news report from this year highlighting the Darlene Messer unsolved murder. They have DNA left behind by the killer, so hopefully this one will be solved soon.

The person who sent the letter that isn't really an update was Tanya, she was Deb's roommate in college and all 3 of us hung out all the time. Most of those pictures I brought with me when I visited Tanya, and she shared them.

i still think a coworker was involved. Knowing Deb, she would not just leave a shift, and she would not take and fold her smock unless she knew someone was going to take over for her. She was responsible that way. Plus having her purse/keys/paycheck in the back of the car would usually mean she was heading home. I think that is where someone got her, while she was getting ready to leave.

As for the house plans, Deb was a dreamer and despite being poor from just buying a car, she would be looking forward to what's next. At that age I was looking at house plans all the time too, even if I could not afford the house I wanted. It was fun, and it didn't cost anything.

She also (and I hate to say it) almost had ADD when it came to some things. Like jobs. She wanted to be a dancer, and we were both on track to become teachers because we weren't good enough to dance professionally, but at the same time, we were both good. But the 2nd year of college she went for computers, and to be honest there were many other things she wanted to do before she wanted to do catering. When I heard that I sort of laughed. She used to laugh at me because I often would help in the college cafeteria for some extra $$, and she would tease me about it often. It was like food service was beneath her. I didn't think she could cook...

I'm still hoping someday we find her remains, and learn what happened.

The UM segment says Deborah's "friend" (presumably Scott Iaggi) arrived a little after 11 on the night of her disappearance. This article says he stayed there until 12:30 a.m. and then went home. That article also says the last person to see Deborah alive was a manager at a nearby KFC at 3:00 a.m. when he stopped in to buy a scratch off ticket. Scott Iaggi came back to the store around 4:00 a.m. and another "regular customer" was there but no Deborah. Iaggi called the police (according to the re-enactment in the UM segment) to report her missing. Police found a stack of house plans with a cup of coffee and a chocolate milk on top of them on the floor behind the counter. According to UM, Deborah's car was outside and unlocked with the keys inside, her purse in the back seat, and an uncashed paycheck in the car. Dogs traced her scent behind the building where it abruptly ended.

If we assume that the cigarette lady got her dates mixed up and that Megadeth was just the boyfriend of one of Deborah's coworkers, that means that the window of opportunity for the crime is approximately an hour. Her smock was found folded neatly behind the counter. The assumption is that she took it off to go outside and smoke. But why was her purse found in the backseat of her unlocked car along with the car keys? I think someone parked in the lot of an apartment complex and lured her to a vehicle there, probably at gunpoint. Which, IMO, wouldn't make much sense for Scott Iaggi to do. He was there with her that night, and had left for a few hours before coming back to find her missing. What could have happened in that relatively short timeframe to have him want to come to the store and abduct and murder Deborah? I am much more interested in that man (mentioned in the article linked above) who had been harassing Deborah in the weeks before her disappearance because she wouldn't date him. He told detectives that he was home sick on the night of her disappearance. It could have even been someone random who saw her outside smoking and decided to abduct her.

The store did not have surveillance cameras at the time of Deborah's abduction.

crystaldawn has a great new podcast episode about this case and can be found here:

https://lostnfoundblogs.com/

She interviews an author named Traci Hohenstein who gained access to the police files on Deborah's case. She says there were several witnesses throughout the night from the time Scott Iaggi left her at work until he and another customer found the store abandoned at around 4 a.m. She also validates some of what this poster, pinebluffracing posted here. They also posted an interesting tidbit about Scott Iaggi with this post:

Quote:

This was validated by the police reports which state neighbors had heard the two of them arguing on the day of her disappearance, and that Deborah had locked him out while he was begging for her to let him back inside. Also mentioned in the police reports is that on the day of her disappearance, Scott proposed marriage to Deborah but she shot him down quick. The more information pinebluffracing posted, the more outlandish some of the things they asserted came off (Megadeth being Scott Iaggi in disguise was one I remember vividly), but on crystaldawn's episode about this case, Traci Hohenstein starts talking about a teenager (roughly 11 minutes into the episode) who came to the Circle K around midnight and chatted with Deborah for a bit before leaving. This teenager came back (described as wearing "heavy metal attire") at 2 in the morning, bought a soda, and started playing an arcade game located near the front of the store. Two roommates who lived in the apartments behind the Circle K came in between 2-2:30 a.m. and they were friendly with Deborah (which matches part of what pinebluffracing had posted) for about 20 to 30 minutes. She mentioned her boyfriend proposing to her to them and that she turned him down. After the roommates left the store, the teenager was still in there playing the arcade machine. Another customer arrived at the store at around 2:45-3:00 a.m. and allege that the door was locked and that Deborah had to unlock it to let him in. When he asked why she had the door locked she said something to the effect of, "there's a lot of weirdos out here tonight." This customer said he didn't see anyone else in the store at this point and that he told Deborah to follow him to the door and lock it while he left, but she didn't leave from behind the counter as he was leaving which he thought was odd.

The next person to come into the store was the cigarette lady and she pretty much goes over what was said in UM, but also says that the guy couldn't "run the register correct or make change". So this added arcade guy throws a potential wrinkle in this case. It's possible that he and Megadeth are the same guy. It's possible he was a bored teenager who stayed out late Saturday night into Sunday morning and left the store shortly after the roommates left. It's possible he was involved in Deborah's disappearance.

I have no idea why any of this information was never printed in the press, because it seems like information that could have been helpful in locating Deborah.

Excellent work, CrystalDawn. I had no idea that the pieces of lore and information that we take as gospel such as Megadeth Guy's statement "You really shouldn't smoke, you know" and his T-shirt are not in the police report. This is more UM presenting these pieces of info, and then they prove to be more legend than fact. I am not casting aspersions on UM because they did their best, and they made an impact, but we all know they got information wrong or left it out altogether.

Also left out of the UM broadcast was Deborah's ex-boyfriend (they may not have ever been 'official' but gone out on a few dates) and when Deborah broke it off with him, he began to harass her. He claims he was home sick on the night of her disappearance. That guy would be my #1 suspect.

From a Reddit thread on “megadeth guy”:

Quote:
The man in the Megadeth shirt was actually suspected to be a man who later became my stepdad. He was taken in for questioning a few times but they never found anything incriminating. Unless I'm just misremembering information, mind you, she disappeared 2 years before I was even born and the guy my mom married (we'll call him James) didn't come around until 1999. I do know for certain that James was an ex boyfriend of Deborah's, he admitted to being there that night at least to us and he was questioned.

After one of their first dates, James drove past the neighborhood when dropping my mom off at home. She pointed this out and he responded with " I know, I'm going to kill you and put you in a cow pasture". He claimed he was joking and I'm not sure why she continued to date him because I'd have noped out right there.

Around 2003-2004, after James had been arrested for domestic violence against my mom, brother and I and they separated, a group of detectives showed up at our house. They asked my mom for every form of ID she had and asked a lot of personal questions. They then produced a composite image of Debrah Poe aged to then current day and it was identical to my mom. Absolutely spot on. The only discernable difference was eye color. They legitimately thought Deborah had lost her memory or was hiding as someone else.

In 2008, James and my mom got back together and married. My mom confided in me one night that in his sleep, James had announced "they won't find her, she's under concrete". She found this particularly disturbing because James had been working for a construction company laying driveways and foundations at the time of Deborah's disappearance.

We both think James was responsible. We don't think it was planned, but James has an awful temper and we can absolutely picture him accidentally ending a life by pushing domestic violence too far. The man threw a loaded laundry hamper at my brother's head when he was 8. Smashed his head right against the wall with it. He's extremely sneaky and manipulative with an ego the size of the universe.

He's also proven to be an avid stalker and extremely jealous after ending a relationship, he and my mom were on and off again from 2000ish until recently and she's dealt with that the whole time. I genuinely think he showed up at Circle K that night, went into a jealous stalker fit and lost control.

So, he was suspected but never arrested? I wonder if this almost-stepdaughter is a legit poster? I guess as legit as any of the family members that have posted on this forum over the years.
