I came across a TV logo for Mark VII Productions and I would like to know more about this TV production company? I do know that they produced Dragnet and did Mark VII Productions also produce any sitcoms too? The familar Mark VII Productions features a hand hammering the VII to the words Mark and Productions. Did they eventually get sold to another TV company or did Mark VII Productions go broke?

When my mom used to watch Dragnet I would always see a production company called Mark VII Productions and it had a logo with a hand holding a hammer and the hammer made a clanging sound and then the words Mark VII Productions appeared. Was Mark VII Productions a very famous production company and what other shows did they produce besides Dragnet?

I'm guessing Mark VII Productions was Jack Webb's company. His other show was Adam-12. That lasted seven seasons (longer than the late 60s/early 70s reboot of Dragnet, which ran four seasons), and had a few versions of the logo and close.

Mark VII Productions was Jack Webb's production company and also produced the long running medical series Emergency.

Jack Webb owned Mark VII Productions? I didn't even know that. I wonder if that is Jack's hand hitting the hammer in the logo too?

Well, I finally pulled this up on Wikipedia. You learn something every day:
I thought there was a possibility that the original 1950s Dragnet series went up in flames, in the Universal fire several years ago. In the Wikipedia article, I found out that the Dragnet series (both) are owned by the Jack Webb estate. Ownership and the location of the masters are two different things. I'd hope the estate has the show somewhere besides Universal (or, Universal has them somewhere else). If that's the case, maybe we will see this show someday, somehow... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_VII_Limited According to this, Jack held the hammer that struck the stamp: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_V...roduction_logo |

There are a few 1950s Dragnet episodes in the public domain; some have shown up on DVD. My favorite features Carolyn Jones.
