I know . It was terrible back than. Girls were so pressured to be skinny in order to be considered pretty or sexy. A girl with a cute body but a few pounds was considered fat. It led a lot of young women to anorexia , to the point of even starving to death.

You are younger than Opus and I , but their was a singer named Karen Carpenter. Started out as a cute girl, not heavy , but healthy looking. Thought she was too fat and became a skeleton and she literally died. Not skinny from drugs , just excessive s dieting and vomiting after eating anything.

This was very sad. Good old days and all. But the 70's and 80's did have it's problems like this. Girls wanting to be thin. Either going the anorexia route or doing meth or cocaine to be thin. Which might have been part of the problem with Julie/ MacKenzie Phillips back than!

All the problems in the world these days but at least women don't have you be real thin anymore to feel beautiful. It's OK to have a little weight on us now

I have a crush on this thin lady at my job which is shocking because I normally not attracted to thin women. But her hair and her eyes make it seem like she should be in the movies lol

Was Karen Carpenter a singer?

Yes. She and her Brother Richard were in a music group called " The Carpenters" Had a bunch of hits in the pop music/ easy listening genre in the 70's and early 80's. Then she literally died, starved herself to death from anorexia . She had it in her mind that her normal weight was fat. It was so I sad when she passed away. She had a really pretty singing voice and was so cute at first before she lost so much weight and became a skeleton.

Yeah I think Al Bundy made a reference to them on Married with Children

Yes the Carpenters were humorously referenced in "Married With Children," including a scene where Al Bundy's toilet played their song "We've Only Just Begun."
Karen Carpenter died in 1983 at the age of 32.
She had a voice known as an "Angelic Voice"
with a distinctive three-octave contralto range.

The Small wonder episode was so predictable. As soon as I saw the tutor was 13 I was like......."he is going to be crushing on Barbara" That guy who played the tutor was also on Diffrent strokes as one of willis friends when they was put in Jail

Ann looked soooooooooooo pitiful in the ET tu Ann episode. Coming on to her male assistant at her house and then everyone found out about it including her boss. And if Craig wanted to keep things professional why the hell did he go to her house on a saturday night? He had to know what that meant.

And why is max calling Ann shorty? He annoyed me again

Yep. And that episode wouldn't fly nowadays. Barbara would have to tell him straight up that he's too young and No way would she go on a date with him. Even though to her it wasn't a date, but if the kid got the word around that he was dating an 18 year old, Barbara could get in big trouble.

But I thought it was a pretty good episode.

How about Ann's alleged sexual harassment ? That guy was such a wimp! I thought this episode was the better of the two today, and Max was there , that always makes a better ep. for me.

Well, Ann had the steaks for dinner thinking Barbara and Julie were going to be there for dinner. When she found out they were going out is when she got the idea to have a business dinner with Craig. Big mistake having wine at business dinner at your house with a man you find attractive. I think Ann got kind of loose from the wine , and the kiss kind of happened. I don't think she planned to have him over to seduce him.

When he didn't respond well to the first kiss, she surely should not have kissed him again. But I think he overreacted and acted like a wimp. Ann really did end up looking a fool!

The Shorty thing was something that was came for Max to call Ann, that she didn't mind . She didn't like him calling her Mother Romano !. Ahh, I hope you get to like Max ! I think you will like him going up against Schneider in an upcoming season 5 ep. " Male jealousy".

Barbara seems more than 5 years older than him, almost like 10. So when he said their second date will be in 1990 and he will be 23 and she would be 28 was like.....Oh they only 5 years apart? She looked like she could be his aunt

And Ann was THIRSTY!!! lol When Mr. Connors was listening outside the door I was like......."Ann about to be fired lol
