Confused Andolina Gonzalez/Judge Geiler

I know Judge Geiler passed away and Adelina wasnt prosecuted. But does anyone what happen to the Judge after Adelina took everything? Where was he living? Just a thought because I came across this episode on a website that shall not be mentioned

Well, one thing the UM segment didn't mention (and with good reason) is that Judge Geiler had a VERY checked history with sexual harrassment and other misconduct and was actually impeached from the bench instead of retiring voluntarily. Just read about this incident involving Geiler, a public defender and a dildo and your jaw will drop!

It's been speculated that the state might have been able to successfully build a case against Andolina Gonzalez if they REALLY wanted to, but I think Judge Geiler probably burned a lot of bridges during his time on the bench and certain people may not have been interested in finding justice for him. That's not to say he deserved what happened to him, but I'm sure some people who knew him personally might have believed karma got him in the end. If he didn't have such a sullied reputation, I'm sure Geiler would have gotten plenty of support after being victimized like that, but alas, I don't think the last days of his life were being very pleasant for him.

Oh, my Lord! I knew about sexual harassment from an earlier thread, but I mistakenly presumed it was verbal. Whoooooa! Who would do that? I'm assuming the public defender was a man, too? What on Earth? That's lewdness to the weirdest extent I have ever heard. Just walking down the halls and man grabs your privates? Just chatting in a conference room and a guy sticks a dildo into your behind? What a horrible atmosphere for anyone working in the vicinity. I hate Gonzalez and her crimes and wish she would pay, but still. I'm shocked.

In fairness, Geiler might have mellowed out considerably in his old age as his previous caretaker seemed pretty devoted and loyal to him, and I can't imagine she'd be that way if he had treated her like he treated his old law clerk.

Dude I know what you mean. I was shocked when Posters unearthed he was a creeper. I just couldn't believe he did that stuff! the segment made him seem like an innocent victim. even if he "mellowed" out it doesn't erase the things he did. not saying he deserved what happened to him. but I don't exactly feel sorry for him either.

Man. I started watching the segment on the archive site, but I can see why UM chose to pull it. I know we all dissect everything UM left out or times when the show didn't do its due diligence, but kudos to them for not keeping this one alive whenever they learned that the guy was a scumbag.

I just view them pulling it as more self serving censorship than anything. I'd rather all the segments be there and let the chips fall where they may.

Interestingly, when I watched this I wasn't that sympathetic to Geiler to start with (and that was before I read about any of the accusations/issues he had).

I had to wonder right off the bat about a beat cop turned judge that owns a house like that in LA and has help. That is serious money we are talking. Something didn't add up there. Also divorced in the decade leading up to the segment, yet another red flag.

Do some reading on the wiki and here and lo behold he was also tossed off the bench, not really surprised.

Seems kind of ironic that he was defrauded out of wealth that he likely acquired by perhaps less than wholesome means.

It always annoyed the heck out of me how that woman kept calling him "Judge" as opposed to the correct "the Judge". And it wasn't just "Judge"; it was "Jaaaaadge". Ugh.

Here's my theory on Andolina.

I thought this was a simple case of elder abuse-- and in that case, shame on Andolina!-- until I learned the truth about Judge Geiler. I think I read somewhere that the his "retirement" from the bench was actually more of a resignation, because of the accusations of harassment/abuse/assault. (And in the early 1970s, that was saying something!)

In any case, does anyone else think that Andolina was purposely hired by one of the judge's victims to get revenge? Think about it. She showed up at just the right time and proceeded to clean him out of his money and most of his property. Who's to say that she wasn't sharing this cash with someone on the side who had hired her to do so?

No, that's a silly thought. They could easily have taken him to civil court if they wanted to gain money.

It's just elder abuse. Karma.

But remember, this was still the era of the "good-old-boys" club. Take a judge to court? I don't think I'd have too much luck with that, especially if the judge chosen to preside was a buddy of his...

OK, I have to concede here. For some reason, I didn't make that rather obvious connection!
