They talk about this on the Brady Bunch and a few other shows around this era.
I haven't heard people talk about it in real life. What about you? Has this been a common saying in your life? |

The late 60s had a cultural change so the generational gap was frequently used. Its not used much today because parents treat their children almost as adults now. Kids grow up so fast with social media and the internet. It is a phrase that is rarely used today. In the Dear Libby episode Mike Brady is talking about the campus unrest in the newspaper and Carol says "now now dear your generational gap is showing"
Because many kids are treated as adults is causing the school problems. Kids talk to the teachers like their parents or friends. |

A generation gap is when 2 generations are separated by another generation. Most parents and kids are seperated by a generation. I'm guessing Mike and Carol would have been Silent Generation and most of their kids would have been Gen Xers, so the Boomer gen would be the 'generation gap'. Greg and Marcia may have been Boomers though. I think the the Boomer Gen is divided into 2 subsets, with ppl born from 60-64 being Gen Jones.
The Generation Gap is VERY REAL! I can feel this, I'm VERY YOUNG Gen X, I can get along with Boomers and Millennials fine, but Gen Z seems like they are from another world, They even speak a different 'language' lol I just have a hard time conceiving there are literally teenagers nowdays who have NEVER been to a movie theater or ordered IN PERSON at a restaurant., or people in their 20s who can't read an analog clock...... And if my "old person mentality can come out for a moment," It kinda makes me MAD in a sense lol |
