I would like to wish the beautiful and talented Jami Gertz a Happy 40th Birthday.

Jami was born on October 28, 1965 in Park Ridge, Illinois (just 20 minutes from where I live!). While still living in Illinois, Jami had a small role as Patty in the infamous 1981 film Endless Love (which also marked Tom Cruise's film debut). In 1982 Jami won an talent contest run by sitcom producer Norman Lear to play the role of peppy Muffy Tepperman in the short lived CBS comedy Square Pegs (1982-1983/ the series also starred Sarah Jessica Parker, Tracy Nelson and Star Trek II & III's the late Merritt Butrick). The same season Jami guest starred as Lindsey in the Diff'rent Strokes episode "My Fair Lady".

During the 1983-1984 season, Jami had a recurring role on The Facts of Life as Boots St. Claire, played Alex's prom date, Jocelyn Clarke, in the Family Ties episode "Double Date" as well as a small role as Robin in the John Hughes film Sixteen Candles. In 1984 Jami was cast in a CBS comedy called Dreams, but it was cancelled after only a month. More film roles followed with Crossroads (1986) and the two landmark 1980's films Less Than Zero (1987) and The Lost Boys (1987)

Jami spent much of the early 1990's out of sight but made a comeback as Melissa is the 1996 blockbuster Twister. She then had recurring roles on ER and the HBO comedy Dream On. Jami was nominated for an Emmy for a recurring role on the FOX series Ally McBeal as Kimmy Bishop. Since 2002 Jami has been playing Judy Miller on the CBS comedy Still Standing.
