Beginning in October as part of MeTV's Halloween BOO-Nanza, MeTV acquires the rights to air the classic 1939 film The Wizard of Oz, not being seen in over-the-air television for nearly 30 years.

Wow. That's excellent! They should try to get other classic TV perennials like Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella (65), the Peanuts specials and (Walt era) Disney movies/cartoons/shows.
I'm surprised that the big three networks haven't gone after The Wizard of Oz again since they still do so well with Sound of Music, Ten Commandments and It's a Wonderful Life. |

MeTV is becoming the 4th Network. This was a big investment for them.
And when MeTv got Raymond. That was a statement. Raymond don't come cheap. |

The article stated that the Wizard of Oz will get multiple airings throughout October. Its a huge investment for the channel. Probably a test run for MeTV airing popular Hollywood movies. Maybe they can get It's a Wonderful Life or Miracle on 34th St for Christmas.

Space1999,
You’re probably right. It’s a hidden secret but every Me TV Fan truly knows they want the Charlie Brown Halloween & Charlie Brown Thanksgiving & definitely Charlie Brown Christmas. I agree about A Christmas Carol & Miracle On 34th Street & It’s A Wonderful Life & White Christmas as well and Considering the Success of Me TV airing A Very Brady Christmas annually. I’m happy that Me TV will air The Wizard Of Oz in October because by November/December I’m usually watching a Christmas Episode/Movie. The one thing I would like Me TV start doing is airing Classic TV Family Sitcoms. As Classic TV Channels all air Classic TV Family Sitcoms in the Mornings. As I would like to see them come to Me TV’s Primetime & LateNight and overnights just like the early years of NICKELODEON’s NICK at NITE schedule. They airred Dennis the Menace & The Donna Reed Show & My Three Sons & The Danny Thomas Show & The Patty Duke Show & The Brady Bunch & Leave It To Beaver and the NICK at NITE Movie. It would follow the huge Success from The Andy Griffith Show & reguarding Movies the Success of Svengoolie. |
