She made reference to someone during the interview who referred her and whoever the person was ended up being someone the interviewer didn't like
Then she found out the job deals with computers and then she was no longer hired. So who was this jackass that referred Roseanne for a secreterial job? BTW: I think Roseanne should have waited until she completed all the paperwork at the Office and everything was finalized before she called home saying she got the job. Or furthermore waited until she got home to reveal the outcome |

Phil was Vonda's Huband. And yes the interviewer should have had a resume or something to showcase Roseanne's qualifications |

In the episode "Guilt by Disassociation" (Season 2, Episode 3), Roseanne was referred for the secretarial job by Phil Green, who worked at the Garvin Meat Packing plant.
The interview went south for two major reasons: The Referral Backfired: During the interview, Muriel (the personnel manager) tells Roseanne that Phil Green is "smoother than a newborn baby's butt" and expresses a particular hatred for his wife, Vonda, saying she’s so "perky" she’d like to "drive a nail through her head". Roseanne, being loyal, defends her friend Vonda, which creates immediate friction. The Computer Trap: Despite the awkward referral, Muriel actually liked Roseanne’s attitude—especially that she parked in a fire lane to get there on time. However, the job required experience with the "Tangerine 3" computer system. Roseanne, who had no computer skills, was forced to admit she didn't know how to use it, and the job offer was rescinded on the spot. Your point about the celebration is a common frustration for fans. The family threw a full-blown barbecue to celebrate her "new job" before she had even finished the paperwork, leading to one of the most awkward and explosive scenes in the series when Dan realized she didn't actually have the position. It served as a brutal reminder of the high stakes and desperate hope of a family living paycheck-to-paycheck. |
