I kinda wish Carol had eventually found out that Mr Ed talks... Maybe like midway through or toward the end

Maybe at the very end, but not before. It would spoil all the comedy situations they got into. At the end okay, she would have understood all the strange happenings, but maybe been angry with Wilbur for not telling her sooner.

Yes. That would have been a satisfying finale.

What a way to end the series. Having Ed talk directly with Carol would've been neat to see.

I liked how only Wilbur could hear Mr. Ed talk. Made for a lot of funny situations thinking Wilbur was a little nutty !
But for a finale show , having Carol find out would have been fun .

I think even with Carol knowing, there could have still be plenty of comical situation... Ed was always causing trouble for other people esp. the Addisons and the Kirkwoods.... It would have been Wilbur and Carol trying to cover for Ed

Let's say that Carol finally has had enough of Wilbur's devotion to Ed and seriously tries to plan an exit from the marriage by moving out (due to the seriousness of her frustrations). She has all of her things packed and Wilbur arrives home to see half the house missing more or less and he's stunned. When Ed sees Wilbur practically in tears pleading with Carol not to leave, Ed finally speaks to Carol "it was me the whole time...I can talk and I selfishly kept Wilbur away from you too long, I am very sorry". Carol could have an instant change of heart as well as a light bulb moment that shines brightly on all the situations where she doubted Wilbur's love for her. Now that she knows the truth, her leave is cancelled and she stays.
