Default If Whew! had been remade today

Thank god that this has been long forgotten despite being considered as a cult classic. But if it were to have a reboot, I'm afraid to imagine that the comedic bloopers would've been made way more sexual, dirtier and raunchier for viral moments on social media and YouTube then they were back in the 70s. For example:

"The last name of Donald Trump's former vice president is Mike P***s", Pence if you were playing along.

Pants??

(Yes I know where you’re going there.)

I would unfortunately have to agree with your assessment, no doubt. The host could be Craig Ferguson or Bill Maher or similar. No thanks.

All that aside, “Whew!” was IMO a great show with a great gimmick—very cartoony, and I say extremely underrated. It was the only Jay Wolpert creation that I really could get into. After all, it had to have had a following, for BUZZR to have added it (albeit briefly) 40+ years after airing!

It was fast paced, and the strategy of placing blocks was important.

I say, like many game shows, its downfall (“jumping the shark”) was adding celebrities. The set was not designed for it, nor did sharing responsibilities.

I really COULD have seen “Whew’l as a cool kids’ game show, sans any raunch, like the Mike P***s thing.

BTW, sorry for the political route cd637299. Also would the kid-friendly bonus round still be called "The Gauntlet of Villains" or something else?

staytuned,

It’s something that I really had not thought about. The violence aspect (like shown in the animated opening, which BTW was done by Hanna-Barbera) would definitely have to be reduced—less scary villains.

Another thing: today I would say that instead of the host, a computer voice should read all the bloopers. With a clock running, a contestant can ill afford for the reading of the blooper to have a stammer or stumble, or to be botched in any way. It would have to go smoothly; stopping-tape-and-reshooting would ruin everything. At the gauntlet, show some funny CGI face reciting the blooper; in fact have 10 different faces/voices.

Just no celebrities!! ha ha

cd637299, it sounds like something that would happen in the 90s if you asked me. But I'm not sure that they would do it today since kids game shows are not considered as "the norm" in today's society.

Also, not sure if Nickelodeon would be interested in it at the time, also they probably would've had slime in it as well, since it's their thing of course.

And for the raunch, I'm pretty sure the late Tom Kennedy (R.I.P) would've stayed away from it with a 10-foot pole.
