"What's In Store This Holiday Season" (season 5 show 199)
Riff Raffy Daffy (Porky, Daffy - 1948 - Davis) - this is the only regular Warner cartoon release where the original camera negative was lost, and still not located--which probably explains why it was never altered and reissued. Therefore, it's the only late 40s/early 50s cartoon where the original opening Porky and Daffy headshot (which was not used after the early 50s) survives on a Warner library copy. Restoration for this cartoon used a surviving Super Cinecolor print, which appears to have been used on this MeTV airing. Hot and Cold Penguin (Chilly Willy - 1955 - Lovy) Gifts from the Air (1937 - Harrison) Seasin's Greetinks! (Popeye - 1933 - Fleischer) Ski for Two (Woody - 1944 - Culhane) |

“RRD” was even shown on ABC in the 90s, same, er, quality, which surprised me.
Was there some special connection between Arthur Davis and Cinecolor? I think all Cinecolor prints were Davis jobs at WB in the late 40s. cd |

Sometimes finding what had original issues in Cinecolor is elusive. Some of the reissues say "Print by Technicolor," which is one hint--the reissue was redeveloped in Technicolor. An example: Bone Sweet Bone.
I just found House Hunting Mice--a Jones cartoon where the original issue was Cinecolor. So much for the Davis theory lol... The Thunderbean copy of the original is on Youtube, and so is the Technicolor reissue. |

Daffy Dilly is another Jones cartoon where the original issue is Cinecolor, but now carries the "Print by Technicolor" moniker on the Blue Ribbon reissue.

Those 1979 toons made for the Bugs Bunny Christmas special are the dregs of the Christmas mug
I missed the commentary from Bill but as soon as I saw Betty Boop skating I thought "rotoscoping" And you could tell it was in the style of then championship skating, they would be gobsmacked at what skaters do nowadays |

"Buggin' Out" (season 4 show 116)
(originally aired Fri. Aug. 9, 2024) Ant Pasted (1953 - Freleng) - Freleng appeared to like the character ending up in a water cooler after an explosion gag, since it's reused from "Bad Ol' Putty Tat" here, and later in "Pests for Guests." One other gag was censored on CBS (the round bomb that pops up out of the dynamite stick) years ago. The Flea Circus (1954 - Avery) Pup on a Picnic (Tom and Jerry - 1955 - Hanna, Barbera) Rabbit's Feat (Bugs - 1960 - Jones) Termites from Mars (Woody - 1952 - Patterson) - origibnal 2024 airing was a Toon In with Me debut |
