The Munsters is a better show it use to air on N@N back in 1995 or 1996 the good old days, but The Addams Family is more popular to other people they even made movies and cartoon series off the show.

I like both but I like the Munsters more. A much spookier show.

Here are some comparisons:

The house:
Munsters- A real building
Addams Family- A painting

The father:
Munsters- A Frankenstein's monster w/bolts in neck
Addams Family- A mortal man

The mother:
Munsters- A lady vampire
Addams Family- A mortal woman

Relatives:
Munsters- Dracula (Grandpa); the creature from the black lagoon
Addams Family- Cousin Itt, Uncle Fester, Thing (?)

Children:
Munsters- Werewolf boy
Addams Family- Mortal boy and girl

Scenes away from the house:
Munsters- Approx. 30%
Addams Family- Approx. 10%

Pets:
Munsters- Dragon, cat w/lion's roar, bat
Addams Family- Spider, cat

The mansion's features:
Munsters- Opening staircase (where "Spot" lives), dungeon with laboratory, pipe organ, thick spiderwebs and dust throughout, vultures in backyard
Addams Family- Torture room, man-eating plant, pipe organ

Automobiles:
Munsters- Munster Coach, Dragula
Addams Family- ???

Telephone location:
Munsters- In a coffin which slides out from a wall
Addams Family- On a table

Special talents:
Munsters (Grandpa) Magic potions, magic pills, experiments in dungeon, can change into a bat and wolf
Addams Family- (Uncle Fester) Light bulb in mouth light up

I may have left some out, especially with the Addams Family because I am much more familiar with the Munsters series.

But I think my comparison does show that, to me, the Munsters is much more spooky and eerie. The Munsters also got out of the house more!

I've always liked both, but I'm more of an Addams Family fan now. The Munsters appealed to me more when I was a kid, probably because it seemed a to have a little more physical humor. As an adult, I like The Addams Family - they weren't "monsters," they were just different.

Plus, I kind of think of Gomez Addams as the perfect man. He's a sharp dresser. He blows stuff up for fun. He's good with his kids. He has an exuberance for life. And his woman never wants for attention. What's not to want???
