I can barely remember seeing this episode. Nicholas (the youngest boy) finds an old shed in the woods or someone's backyard and it's all set up with astronomical graphics and flashing lights inside, built to look like a space craft from the inside, powered by electricity. ...The oldest brother (Grant Goodeve) tells him later that he and his childhood friend had built it 15 years earlier. He had "forgotten" about it.
Has anyone seen this? If you have, I have a couple of questions. 1. Where was the shed? 2. Did it seem unlikely that it would have still been in working condition all those years later? Did it seem like it could have actually been forgotten by the eldest brother? The whole thing seems so unlikely because this was a pretty realistic show from what I can recall. But it's also kind of fascinating. I would love to see this episode again. |

It does seem unlikely that this shed would still be in working order after fifteen years, but I guess it's possible . It's also possible that David might have completely forgotten about it . He also might have almost forgotten about it or semi -- forgot to the point where he didn't think about it any more . He might have had too much on his mind with his adult responsibilities, etc .

I finally discovered it in season 2 "Who's On First". Side story to the family talent show being organized by Joni.
Nicholas wants to run away because no one believes he was abducted by a UFO. At the end of the episode David shows everyone the old shed that was still operating. Apparently he had built it with his practical joker friend 10 years ago and he had forgotten all about it. The shed was literally at the side of the house in the backyard, just a few feet from the street. Just as ridiculous as I remember. |

Once again he forgot about it and no one else noticed it in their yard for all those years.
