I thought that would have been in violation of NFL rules because CBS stopped showing the game everywhere, including Kansas City and San Diego, leaving tons of fans upset.

Ever since the modern era of Super Bowl led-out programs started with NBC's Friends in 1996, CBS has only had two reality series, two dramas, and one of their late-night talk shows air in the post-Super Bowl timeslot, and never a sitcom. It was announced today that another reality series, a competition titled The World's Best, will air after Super Bowl 53. The Super Bowl lead-out programs on CBS were:

2001 (XXXV): Survivor: The Australian Outback
2004 (XXXVIII): Survivor: All-Stars
2007 (XLI): Criminal Minds
2010 (XLIV): Undercover Boss
2013 (XLVII): Elementary
2016 (L): The Late Show with Stephen Colbert
2019 (LIII): The World's Best
Expanding on this topic, how about royally screwing The Neighborhood out of any Super Bowl lead-out opportunity? I thought CBS was going to air a one-hour episode of The Neighborhood following Super Bowl LV, but NO, they put the series premiere of the 2021 version of The Equalizer instead. I was also thinking the most logical time for The Neighborhood to have been put in the SB lead-out slot was its first season, when The Big Bang Theory was in its final season, and then the blow to the CBS comedy division's ratings might not have been as nasty as it ended up being.

This year, the previous year's writers and actors strikes made CBS deadlock themselves into having no choice but to stick with the series premiere of an unowned drama (Tracker, produced by 20th Television and not CBS Studios) for Super Bowl LVIII. It's too late for The Neighborhood to air after the SB now, because it'll be entering its sixth season, and Poppa's House, the only CBS sitcom that would have premiered during the 2023-24 season, has now been shifted to Fall 2024. Just one perfect reason to stop supporting CBS.

I always thought the Super Bowl lead out slot was supposed to be a good way to elevate a new or younger show, yet lousy CBS isn't willing to do it for a sitcom, and I'm forced to find alternate programming to watch on the free SVoD services after The Big Game because of it.

One big mistake in CBS history in the mid-1970s has gone without mentioning long enough: Cancelling Mannix after its eighth season (in 1974-75) despite an average rating of 21.6, tying with Cannon for 20th place. This was after Mannix failed to crack the Nielsen Top 30 for its previous two seasons after a seventh-place finish in 1971-72.

Paramount Television, the producer of Mannix, made a deal with ABC to air reruns of Mannix in its late-night slot while CBS was still airing new episodes of Mannix. No one ran this past CBS, and CBS ended up cancelling Mannix in retaliation.

Paramount Television must have put a curse on CBS for the abrupt cancellation of Mannix, as the network doomed themselves into not having a successful series from Paramount Television for the next two decades, until CBS picked-up JAG from NBC during the 1996-97 season. Notable Paramount-produced flop shows produced for CBS include Busting Loose (1977); the TV version of The Bad News Bears (1979-80); Working Stiffs (1979); Hometown (1985); The Cavanaughs (1986-89); The Bradys (1990); The Royal Family (1991-92); Bob (1992-93); Almost Perfect (1995-96).

Frankly, Mannix's cancellation was even more controversial than Gunsmoke's cancellation that same year. How can CBS have such a poor relationship with its future sister studio compared to NBC and Universal Television?

Not giving Melissa McCarthy the chance to host a People's Choice Awards ceremony after other CBS sitcom stars like Kaley Cuoco have already hosted beforehand.

Kaley Cuoco (a star of The Big Bang Theory) hosted the People's Choice Awards in 2012 and 2013, Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs (the stars of 2 Broke Girls) hosted in 2014; and Alison Janney and Anna Faris (the stars of Mom) hosted in 2015. I wish Melissa McCarthy (the star of Mike & Molly, portraying the latter of the show's two leads) hosted in 2016 instead of Jane Lynch (the star of Angel from Hell – a freshman sitcom that debuted midseason), since Angel from Hell ended up being cancelled after five episodes, even with Mike & Molly itself getting terminated by CBS after that same season. Joel McHale (the star of another freshman sitcom, The Great Indoors) hosted the People's Choice Awards in 2017. I guess The Great Indoors getting cancelled after one (full) season must have been the last straw for the People's Choice Awards' relationship with CBS. The People's Choice Awards ended up moving to E! the following year. Now, after 2021, the People's Choice Awards ceremony is simulcast with NBC (E!'s sister network). Melissa McCarthy was a rising movie star during her time on Mike & Molly. Now, I guess it's too late for her to ever host the People's Choice Awards.

Like I said Survivor is overrated and on top of that they were killing game shows! But I am glad to see game shows come back!

Being too embarrassed to to show Michael Larson’s Press Your Luxk episode with fanfare. I mean it was a big deal! So big that they should have put it on in prime time for an hour! Michael was not a crook far from it. He wax super brilliant.

CBS News went from being objective nonpolitical news reporting to being a total political arm for one political party with fake news, pushing their agenda and narrative! Now they and all other MSM news have only viewership of 10%-15%. Back in the 1960s it was in the 75%-80%! Same for the late night shows after the news!

I don't even touch modern "news"-- it's all sensationalism and anger and judgment presented as if it was actual reporting (and IMO, FOX "News" is the worst).

Failing to recognize the talents of Al Michaels and Bob Costas and not giving them more to do causing them to deflect to ABC and NBC respectively of which they both became bigger stars. However, had CBS recognized the talents of both men they would have had an all-star lineup of Michaels, Costas, Madden, and Summerall.
