I have a question, maybe you 1990_UM_fan can help since you are great at keeping up this thread.

So I saw that Edward Maynard, who ran around as a Con-Juan under the pseudonym Eric Kessler, died in 2020. He was featured on UM after romancing and scamming a woman named Katherine. I saw that he had not only passed away, but that the UM Wiki had already been updated with the info. But I didn’t see his passing mentioned in this thread. If the wiki is already updated, should I not repeat that update here? I don’t want to regurgitate information that everybody here already knows.

I vaguely recall hearing that he passed, but don't know if that was already posted. I believe this is the Edward Maynard in question: https://www.eastmanfuneralhome.com/o...Edward-Maynard

That can't be the same guy, can it? That would mean he was only in his 40's when he swindled the main woman profiled. He looked like an old man in the photos.

Edit: There's no way this is the same guy. Not only the age is off, but he was "preceded in death by his love of 57 years". There was no mention of him traveling the country swindling other women while happily with another one.

His family obviously wouldn't post his criminal activities in his obituary

No, but how many women would remain someone's "love of their life" for 57 years while their husband was traversing the country sleeping with and scamming other women? Combining this with his age seeming to be too young makes me wonder if it's the right person's obit. These are glaring discrepancies in my opinion, but I've been wrong before.

One thing that doesn't change with age is the eyes. Even without the glasses, there are similarities. There's another picture of him on his Find A Grave memorial. I'll let you decide.

I’m so sorry to read this. Her interview was heart-breaking. I’m glad she is with Lee again and my heart goes out to Lori and the rest of Linda’s family.

They're two completely different people. The UM Wiki and The Find A Grave profile proves this as well.

The criminal was Edward Chase Maynard, Jr. (2/25/1944-4/23/2019).

The person in that obituary was Edward J. Maynard (12/12/1941-3/4/2020).

The criminal was only 43 when he swindled Katherine. Wow. UM depicted him as more of a senior citizen as far as I'm concerned.

I can see the similarities in some facial features as you mention! I wouldn't be at all surprised if they were related. Those noses are identical! But the innocent Maynard had a great head of hair for a man of his age, while the swindler was bald.

I always wonder how she felt after the events in 1999 came to be and had to rethink her initial assumptions?

Unpopular opinion but I don't think what happened in 1999 means he was automatically guilty of Doreen's murder. Perhaps he was feeling mentally beaten down for being falsely accused for many years and harassed by law enforcement, finally found love and a "normal" life again, and the ex or new boyfriend not only left but said something that rubbed salt in the wound and caused him to snap. The fact this was a unplanned "passion" killing from someone with obvious anger issues doesn't not jive with the apparently well planned disappearance of Doreen. I'm not 100% convinced of his innocence (I would say 70/30 innocent) but this update didn't really move the needle much for me. Unfortunately we will never know either way.

Yeah. 😭 He looked so much like Duncan too. My heart goes out to Jeanne and her family, the loss of a child is horrible. Her reunion with Duncan is one of my favorites from the whole UM series.
