It’s funny how he constantly hated things on the sitcom and eventually refused to do an episode, but did this incarnation.

He refused to do 2 episodes. Hello Alice, Goodbye and Hair Brained scheme. I read Susan's book about the variety show. Its a really good read. It is quite amazing how into performing he was even though he was a weak singer and dancer.

So maybe the answer is deep down he was a wannabe song and dance man. I still think it’s funny someone with orange hair on a sitcom is walk off the set horrible but this outfit is no problem.
